When my grandson was sent to this school its because he had emotional issues from a Chromosome malfunction. He eventually was tested and we PAID for that with an outside testing facility. He ultimately was put in special education. This experience has left him permanently traumatized and he still talks about it to this day. This school had a padded room for emotional behavior issues. If a child goes into a meltdown ( as these children do through no fault of their own) they were held either in a vice sort of grip or locked in a padded room.Looking back we now know we should have put him in a school better educated and equipped to handle children such as my grandson. It all started in kindergarten when we realized something wasn't as it should be. He will NEVER EVER RECOVER HOW HE WAS TREATED HERE.NONE OF THE TEACHERS THERE IN SPECIAL EDUCATION ACTUALLY KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING. This cause PTSD on top of his overloaded anxiety he suffered from No, Go to a school for its specialty of taking care of children with special needs. Public schools are a failure where mental and emotional stability needs are concerned.

Mountain View is the very best! The teachers are awesome and the low teacher turnover rate speaks volumes. They are experienced, knowledgeable and fun. My children have all had great experiences in each grade level, love the school and are challenged. I have a child with an IEP and one in gifted so I understand how well the school communicates and differentiates. We truly feel like we hit the jackpot with this school!

There is a lot of intentionality at the school. It reassures me that students are being treated as individuals with unique needs and strengths

Our fourth daughter is starting at Mountain View and our oldest is graduating this year. We’ve loved it since the beginning!! They have successfully prepared our girls to move on to middle school and we love all the staff there too.

We recently moved into the state and left behind a very competitive magnet school that was ranked 10/10 on this website. Finding a place to live based on schools is tough, especially if you're 600 miles away. I must say that I'm incredibly proud to have my kids at Mountain View Elementary. The teachers, staff, and administration are kind, welcoming, and smart teachers! Both of my kids have thoroughly enjoyed their classes, the school activities, friendships, and have made great achievements this school year. I'm thankful we settled into this school district.

I feel for the previous reviewers that rated this school less than stellar based on students with different learning abilities. In my experience the school has been incredible, I have gone through two IEP processes with the school and every single member there had the absolute best interest at heart for my children. They explained all of the steps, have provided incredible resources to aid us as parents, and have placed an emphasis on setting up my children for success. We left another school in the same area, and by comparison this school is the absolute best elementary school for any student in this area. I encourage anyone reading this to go into the school and meet the staff. You will know right away that this is a fantastic school for any child.

From what I read this school is only fine for the typical student, and if your child learns differently at all it is not recommended. I have 2 kids in the school, both with different educational needs, and both excelling. My oldest, although brilliant, is borderline autistic and moderately hyperactive. She has been put in situations every year which have helped her to excel. My youngest had behavioral issues, and was deficient in reading. He is now reading on grade level with improved behavior thanks to the hard work of the staff. (they both have a strong support system at home) Great school. Don't believe anyone that says differently.

Mountain View Elementary is a great school. My son has attended Mountain View for 2 years and loves this school. He is not the type of student who can just sit still and listen all day - his teachers have really worked with him and he is now a confident 5th grader. He wakes up in the morning looking forward to school! The teachers I have encountered are creative and like what they do. Parents are welcome and can volunteer in a variety of ways.

I have two children that have attended this school. It was fine (I stress fine) for my first child because all the scores were high, but my second child has struggled. The school does not offer extra help for these children and seems to just be interested in their material for high test scores. They do no communicate well with the parents nor do they seem to care about the child's self esteem and overall creativity. The school is very boring for innovative and active children. If your child can sit in his/her seat all day, never talk, and still understand the material, this school might be okay for them as far as grades. But for children that are Kinesthetic learners, this will most likely NOT be the school to attend. Parents that have children with good grades do not understand the emotional development their child is missing. Overall, I am very disappointed with Mountain View and moving my child to a different school. The principle spits out robotic jargon and doesn't seem to want/invite real parent involvement or address concerns appropriately.

We have two children enrolled at Mountain View Elementary and we could not be happier with the school environment, teachers and staff. The principal, Mrs. Shrecker is wonderful and responded almost immediatly after contacting her about a concern I had with my son. She took quick action to rectify and did an amazing job of working with my son, the teacher and myself to be sure things were smoothed out and corrected. My kids love Mountain View and I have never been disappointed with any of the teachers.

Agree with a previous post, if your child has special needs and does not fit into a certain "box", this is not the school (or county for that matter) for your child. Very disappointed with our entire experience in PWC and their views on how children with special needs should be educated-moved from the county for better opportunities and a more child focused education. PWC is concerned with test scores, funding and social status-not children. If you have special needs, check THOROUGHLY into how they plan to place your child even though they claim to try to integrate everyone mainstream.
