My son has been attending the school here for a year and he is very happy with his experience. The teachers are great and that communicate very well with parents.

This school… where to begin? Last year, looks like other parents had “pleasant experiences” with the principal and some of the staff. Well the principal (the source of the problem), got rid of the assistant principal (actually tried to fix things), and hired the counselor (who screamed at kids and told them not to tell their parents) as the new assistant principal.. so yeah, I guess that’s the solution. Meanwhile, my kid has to avoid kids in classes phones that just watch TikTok all class. Really seems like they have some leadership issues here. Not to mention, covering up issues to make sure the schools image looks better than it is.

This school has potential, but nothing will change as long as Principal Jeck is in charge. She created a toxic environment for teachers, students, and families. This will be my last year involved in this school. I will transfer out of this elementary school. If this school gets new leadership and lower elementary teachers this school could possibly be the best in the county.

This is the worst elementary school I have ever encountered. The principal is a bully. The principal bullies staff, students, and family. The school used to be an excellent school before Principal Jeck. Most of the K-3 teachers and guidance are also bullies. They should not be around children. This school could be excellent again, but it is in need of a deep cleaning.

Noticed that the last reviews of this school were from 2015 (before the current leadership). Overall, the school has a desire to be more than it is. Lot's of desire to drive a friendly environment (they have awards), but this also drives questionable behaviors: group think among the staff, singling out differences and trying to shoo them away, etc. It starts from the top and percolates through the rest of the staff. Be prepared that people here will hear you, but they won't listen to you.

This school is fantastic! We have been going to BRES for 10 years (2 graduated, 2 still there) and every year we are so thankful we moved to this neighborhood. The sense of community is huge - parents know each other so well and really take the time to interact and meet their children's friends. So many of the teachers have been at the school for 15+ years - a handful of teachers opened the school over 20 years ago. Turnover is low across the board, which is really excellent. Communication home to parents is a major priority. From weekly Bristow Briefs and monthly Newsletters sent by admin to regular communication from teachers, you will always know what is going on with the school. They have tons of activities organized by the awesome PTO, fantastic SCA, and super counselors.

I have two children attend BRES. I absolutely love it. The administration is very easy to deal with and very helpful. In particular, Mr. Baldwin, the assistant principal, is very helpful when navigating the IEP/504 process. Another commenter said the teachers weren't quite as good as they once were, but I disagree. We did lose a handful of great teachers, but the ones who stayed are wonderful! Of course, there are a few duds here and there, but you will find that anywhere. Overall an excellent school.

I'm excited that Bristow Run is now part of the Global Schools Initiative. Only 3 schools in Prince William County were chosen for the program. My first grader is learning about the geography and culture of countries around the world, and she loves it! The principal and assistant principal are very caring and dedicated to the students and staff. Three of our kids have gone to Bristow Run, and we've been very happy with the wonderful teachers, the curriculum and level of academic challenge, communication with parents, and the leadership team. We also have enjoyed the great PTO activities. The school has always been terrific, but it's even better now that it's not overcrowded anymore, like it was until 2011.

BRES is not quite what it used to be as many of the better teachers followed the previous principal to form a new school elsewhere in the county in 2011. All in all, it is still a good school. It is just not quite as good as it used to be.

Fantastic school! Great teachers, fantastic Principal and Assistant Principal. Top notch programs along with wonderful volunteers, admin staff, etc. This is a very friendly school with outstanding staff at all levels. I could not ask for a better school for my kids!

Truly one of the BEST. Teacher communication is wonderful, and Mrs. Werle takes the time to address parent concerns. Parent volunteers are extraordinary, and we couldn't be happier sending our kids here.
