Harris County High School is a great school and definitely prepares you for college. Other than my freshman year I had an amazing time thanks to the theater department and some excellent teachers such as Mrs. Longshore, Mrs. Hall, and Mrs. Kennedy. The councilors are great other than the Eleventh Grade councilor who messed up my schedule as I was supposed to duel enroll my senior year and had never sent me the paperwork like he was supposed to. The assistant principle acted like she ran the school and dresscoded you at any point in time for the smallest things. I had to sit in ISS for wearing a skirt in 97 degree weather because it was a centimeter to short thanks to fake nails. I currently am a student at Kennesaw State University on full HOPE scholarship and graduated with a 3.8 GPA. Overall a great school and great school system.

Harris County is an amazing school. Love the theater department Mrs. Longshore is simply the best. Not a fan of the principle but we try not to deal with him as he has a very unique leadership style that does not encourage the students in a positive manner. With that said we moved here for the schools, and we have no regrets.

6th year with a child at HCHS, we are not happy at all! Other previous statements below mentioned that the teachers take complaints made about them out on your student! That is a FACT, it happens!! Not fair, but it does and the principal does nothing about it. Upper administration is a good old boy network, happy with the sense of this being a back woods, old school mentality. Upper admin doesn't follow up...lack of communication is very very frustrating and unprofessional! They cover up and hide student serious offenses and act like they never happened or sugar coat the offense depending on the student. Harsh consequences are only for some students. Some teachers are there for a paycheck only and when it's obvious to parents it sure should be obvious to administration! Clubs and sports.......if it's not about the football program you can forget it admin cares not about its success. Guidance does a horrible job returning voice messages and emails (this and last year). I could go on on and on... these comments are based on our personal experience and discussions with other parents at this school we have talked with.

Harris County High has been great for my son. This is his first year of high school (9th grade) as well as this is a new school for him. He loves it and so do we.

HCHS is a great school and have some great teachers but if you make some of them mad then they take it out on the student and that's not fair to the student. They will hold your child back instead of coming to you. The band director especially is good for that. The principle will tell you what he thinks you want to hear and not follow up on them. Overall he is a great guy. Great School. Don't ever give up on your child, fight for them to the end cause that's what you have to do if you have a problem there at the school with the teacher.
