Good luck with this school! We've worked with 4 teacher. All appeared worn down, impatient, defensive, anxious and burned out. Maybe there could work on teacher appreciation and encourage more teacher self-care and change their focus. Teachers here "teach the test." That might be good very temporarily, but good luck when your child hits high school and a decent university, let alone the work place. Jobs these days need creative problem solvers that think for themselves. Office staff are just plain unprofessional-roll their eyes, say inappropriate and share unwanted advice. I heard them gossiping about moms in the back. This school is completely void of joy. Joy is tge basis of all learning. Their little model "leader in me" is based off Steven Covey's 7 habits for kids. Uh, as a social scientist with a Master's from a top university and even math teacher graduate. This theme is developmentally all wrong. Plus they are rigid about it all. I got the impression it's for show. Look at other nearby schools and you'll see better mottos. No, Woodland won't make your child a leader. I've never met a happy person here or even a patient one. Try another school if you can. Oh and it's overcrowded and huge.

There is a lot of bullying at the school, both by students and by administrators. The principal just seems confused and ineffective. She does not follow district policies and lies to higher level administrators about what she is allowing to happen at the school. There is also a really mean assistant principal that ignores bullying by students she favors and harasses students over dress codes she claims exist but actually are nowhere to be found in the handbook. These are very young children. None are dressed inappropriately but this admin seems to have a very active imagination. It’s kind of creepy gross. Admin here will jump to suspension instead of speaking to parents and kids and going through the steps outlined in the handbook. They expect adult behavior from tiny kids and are mean mean mean.Parent concerns are completely ignored. Is your kid being sexually harassed or bullied? No one cares here. School is run like a military camp. Talk at breakfast? They will throw it out. Touch a wall while walking down a hall, that’s a write up. Have a disability? Teachers and front office staff will openly and loudly make fun of you with zero repercussions. Have a personal matter? Your child’s record will be loudly shouted out to you in the front office for all to hear. Their longest serving front office staff has a snide remark for everything. Need to take your kid out early for an Dr appointment? She’ll have something to say about the timing. Want to pick your kid up early due to local flooding? She’ll make it clear to everyone in the front office how ridiculous you are. She has her ears perked and listens to jump into your business. It’s best to just never go to the office if you can help it.Kids that have left the school refer to it as the prison. They talk about their awful experiences there and nervously laugh as they share their horror stories and discuss their trauma. The school is notorious in the middle and high school. Kids don’t look back fondly on their elementary years. If you have a kid with special needs, boy are you in for the fight of your life. This school wil fight tooth and nail not to provide services and once services are granted, they will lie to you and you will find out services were faked in writing and never happened in real life.The truth is, parents that have lived here long enough to know this school’s reputation opt to send their kids somewhere else if they can. But if your kid is tough and a charmer…they might be ok.

Teachers for us have been great however- the Principal Mrs Miller is not competent for the position she was given. She does not care about student safety, bullying, parental input or the school as a whole. Countless times Parents have tried to consult with her regarding concerns over school safety, student wellness among many other things and she has yet to answer anyone. The school board is a useful as a white crayon. This school was once operated with safety first and once they put Mrs Miller in charge you can see the school slipping into a bad place. School Choice is a great option for residents of this area, if you can get into Buena Vista- do so. The last few years with this Principal has been a roller coaster of nightmares. How she remains employed is beyond comprehension. Students and their safety should always be before test scores.

I should have learned for my experience going to this school as a young child . I am grown and the thoughts and memories of my Experience still traumatized me today. The bullying that I experienced from teachers and staff are truly traumatizing . I should have known better than to send my own child to the school. But I thought after many years things would have changed people would have changed it's not the case. The principal at this school does not care about anything that you have to say.. And the front office staff are terrible They will jump down your throat in a heartbeat will not take a complaint We'll rent and rave I bet it is hard on them. And the covid figure has made it even worse . They will also not allow you to Point anything out Cause it's not their problem. If you have The Choice to send your child to a different school for your sanity for your child's well being placed in them somewhere else. God knows I wish I had.

Our experience has been top-notch. Woodland’s administrators, teachers and students are doing an amazing job creating a community to cultivate learning, development and excellence. I couldn’t be more satisfied with our child’s experience so far.

Woodland is truly a GREAT school and we've had an outstanding 4 years here; I'm sorry our elementary school years will come to an end this year! Although the school has a large student body, it is run very efficiently and professionally. Administration and teachers really care about the children and the PTA is excellent. I really like the option of being able to write a "placement letter" which describes the ideal learning environment for your child - I've written a letter (using the guidelines provided on school's website) and my child has been placed with a great teacher who is a good fit for him each year. THANKS Woodland for 4 GREAT years :)

This is my child's first year at Woodland Elementary school he has special needs the staff is very friendly and really seem to care about my child's education.

I love this school I just moved away, but I would be back their in a heartbeat!Not only the teachers are great the kids are SUPER nice. The teachers I would recommend are Mrs.Chaffee, Mr.Moser, Mrs. Scudder, and Mrs. Wells. I felt good because their were safety patrols.Their are a majority of clubs such as chorus, art, drum, safety patrol, and more! If you move to this area Woodland is the choice.

Great school. My child has had a good experience here. Had to change schools for him midterm because of a move. They welcomed him and made the transition easy for Him. From the admin staff to the teachers. Great people.
