Novus has been really good for our daughter. She has dyslexia and did not do well academically or socially in a highly-rated public elementary school. She moved to Novus in 7th grade and is now a junior. She has a friend group, and is reaching her potential academically.I like the new Parent Education program this year which focuses on transitions after high school and helping students and parents make decisions on life after Novus.

Two of my four children attend Novus Academy and we could not be happier with the difference Novus made in our lives. My children struggled in other schools and I could see them starting to feel defeated and I was very concerned what would happen for them if we let the situation continue (one was in another private school, the other was in special day classes in the public school. We relocated from out of state because Novus was such an amazing place and knowing that this learning environment existed--I couldn't send them anywhere else. The new head of school is incredible, the teachers are on a level with the students that makes the kids learn in a way, I've never seen anywhere!I can't say enough about how welcoming and amazing this place is. Initially I only enrolled one of my children, but after my oldest began coming home in tears because he "couldn't keep up" and saying he was "trying so hard, but its still not good enough"... I made the choice to move him to Novus as well and it has made ALL THE DIFFERENCE. From his first day at Novus, everything changed--he was excited, he was engaged. MY KIDS TELL ME ABOUT THEIR DAY WHEN I ASK!!! They are excited about what they learn and it all goes back to HOW they learn it. They are immersed. They find a way to make learning, even things like math and English, fun and interesting! Their successes are celebrated and they have confidence like never before. The difference I saw in the personality and outlook, especially in my oldest child, was like a miracle to our family. His outlook is positive, they are self assured, not just in their education but socially and emotionally. They shake hands, they make eye contact, they communicate openly and effectively, with children and adults. I am supported as a parent. The teachers share everything with us. They really make themselves available to work with me on every level. They respond immediately, they proactively reach out about not just concerns, but questions for me, working with me to help my kids succeed on every level. I wish every family could experience what we have with Novus.

I am a parent of a Novus Academy Student! One of my favorite things about Novus is they surround all the students and the families with love and encouragement. The teachers and staff all put in more effort than at typical schools to help the students become their best! I have seen that between the family, the student, and the Novus staff the unimaginable dreams come true! The school does things differently than the typical school district. The kids get a lot more interactive learning, they have outdoor learning days, and after school they have clubs that peak the interests of the students. And on top of all of that, the summer program is just as amazing! Everyday I look forward to what my child is going to come home and tell me what he learned and what cool activity he did in his classes! And it’s always a bonus when he comes home talking about new friends he’s made!!

The school used to be good and went downhill, very disappointing, good teachers and families left bc of 2 particular teachers and recent issues. Fired the founder of the school, when they didn't have jurisdiction to do that. By laws clearly state, "minimum of 7 members, no more than 15." A total of 3 board members, no quorum that's needed, fired the leader who was the heart of the school. Without Kathy Edwards, there is no school. There are many good schools and program options around, keep looking!

The Novus Academy is a fantastic school. You can feel the family atmosphere as soon as you walk in the door. Everyone is treated as equals and no limits are placed on what they can accomplish. Our son started Novus because he was not able to read. 1 and 1/2 years in and he is reading everything he sees. The Novus decree is "YET". You can't do something, YET. With hard work and the right support anything can be accomplished.

Leadership treats every student as her own, educating and nurturing with best practices the rest of the staff could learn from. Utilizing parent volunteers would minimize teacher workload and enable them to focus on student priorities... developing leadership and advocacy qualities while still needing more challenging curriculum for those excelling students. A larger qualified teacher base would broaden the school scope and opportunity to support families. The Novus Academy is proving itself to be a quality need and want in the community, evolving every year to become the best education center it can be though the school needs to be able to survive without the (single decision maker) leadership on campus every day; I don't see that happening at this point.

When I first walked in I knew I was at a very special place. My daughter has really blossomed at The Novus Academy. The school revolves around the students. They do everything they can to make going to school enjoyable for the students. I believe when teachers discuss the students they are passing on valuable information about the student that will help the other teachers. This happens in any school that cares about their students and wants them to be as successful as possible. The teachers at this school will do ANYTHING in their power to help the students. My daughter plans on graduating from The Novus Academy. I cannot imagine a better place to have her attend school. The love and attention all the students receive here are beyond measure. I very highly recommend this school.

My experience at Novus has gotten worse and worse every year. The school always revolves around the principal. The school always asks for more and more generous donations. I used to love this school, but now I am so glad I left. The schools teachers, and leadership always gosssip about students and they have favorites. I would not recommend this school to anyone. (Also note how MOST good reviews are made on the SAME date around the SAME time, tells you something?)

The school is ok for special needs students. However, if you have a student that simply needs a smaller classroom environment to gain additional support, this will most likely not be a good fit. Our child become extremely frustrated when they no longer saw themselves in their peers and being a teenager is tough enough.Hill school (sold to Novus 2 yrs ago) was rigid about admission but now it's about filling seats and appeasing the board. (Note: most reviews are made on the same date)

Novus has been so warm and welcoming to my son. He has really thrived there and become a wonderful young man, due in large part to the caring, fabulous faculty and the spirit of innovation that guides the school. The second you walk in the door, you know you are some place totally different than a traditional school. This is a place where imagination can take flight and be supported by academic excellence.

I can't imagine my granddaughter's scholastic experience if we hadn't found The Novus Academy. Instead of struggling and possible failure she has thrived and blossomed into a successful, happy young lady. This is more than a "school"; it is an experience in learning and growth.

We love Novus. Our son has just come alive here. Before moving to Novus he hated talking to strangers and introductions were often difficult and embarrassing. He confidently greets people he meets with eye contact and a handshake now. He loves his teachers and the other students and most especially all of the Novus canine family. Now that he is comfortable, learning is easier and he is truly making measurable progress. We feel so blessed to have found such a great place.

We have been apart of this awesome school family for almost 3 years and what a difference the change from public to private school has made in our lives. I have a son that wants to actually get up and go to school to learn.

My daughter has a whole new attitude about school! She has seen successes that seemed insurmountable in the public school setting. I love that she is accepted for who she is and the mindset at the Novus--- helps her reach her fullest potential. I am so grateful to Mrs. Edwards and her amazing, encouraging and compassionate teachers! - forever grateful mom

We visited two other schools before choosing the Novus Academy. The Novus Academy was innovative, atmosphere is bright and fun, they provided monthly progress evaluation and the staff is well-trained to handle behavioral issues. Our grandson started attending 5 months ago. He has made great strides in his academics. He looks forward to going to school each day. His teachers are engaged with us and responsive to our requests. We can't say enough about the excellent education he's receiving at The Novus Academy!!

We came to Novus Academy 2 and a half years ago and it has changed both the life of my child and the life of our family. My child enjoys going to school, participating in activities and not fearing that he is going to be made fun of for being himself. The teachers are top notch and truly care about the kids succeeding in school and in life.

Novus Academy has turned my son around completely. The teachers and administration are second to none. They are far more than merely caring. They are competent (and that's saying something in today's educational market), excellent, progressive, cutting edge, pushing the limits of real world experience combined with an education that actually matters. Novus is the place to be if you want an actual education rather than just hand-me-down grades for showing up.

Wonderful school. My daughter's reading has improved greatly. She now is confident and no longer feels ashamed of her reading problems.
