My child goes to daycare at All Saints Academy (Grand Rapids, MI), a Catholic school, and I walked in today having the main “teacher” actually screaming at my child, not only that she came up to me and started yelling at me and telling me all the things that he was doing wrong and how awful he is and making demands of me. Mind you my child was in a corner behind a bookshelf while she was screaming at him. I have never in my life seen a teacher actually scream at a toddler like that. This is not the first time I’ve had a problem with her, but this is the first time I witnessed it firsthand like this. Her name is Michelle Ball, the principal Meagan Schneider has previously done absolutely nothing about this teacher and I am not the only parent with these problems, I have talked to others that have had the same issues. So obviously I can’t send him there anymore because it’s ridiculous, a little boy should never be treated that way. I have also contacted Catholic Schools - Diocese of Grand Rapids Diocese of Grand Rapids on the matter.

Our experience mirrors that of the post from the parent below on January 1, 2013. We were a longtime family when the school was St. Jude, and as it transitioned to ASA. However, with the change in leadership 2011-2012, I couldn't agree more with "silence by the teacher" when there are problems -- or emails from teachers that begin "I don't know, but I think...", the office staff at the middle school is rude, and the school administrators are definitely rigid and passive aggressive in how they deal with the slightest problem. I would never recommend this school, as there are significantly better Catholic schools in the area and we have since moved our children.

The best school..caring staff and well rounded education. Any issue I have ever had was addressed and resolved. My child's best interest was always a top concern. I can't relate at all to the negative review. Just remember there's two sides to that story.

Our family loves A.S.A. They have wonderful, caring teachers and a welcoming office staff. The band program is awesome. The Liturgical Music classes have my children singing at mass. The Response to Intervention program helps with remedial work and enrichment activities which both my children benefitted from. The school counselor does so many activities to help the children become positive and compassionate children. These are just some of the reasons why A..S.A. has been a great place for my children to grow and learn.

This school is the best! Since day one, it has felt like we are all one happy family. The teachers are wonderful. My son is in 1st grade and already reading at a 4th grade level. Fantastic! The only downside is there is no daycare.

I felt I had to write after reading the negative response below. I couldn't disagree more with those comments. We have attended ASA since its beginning 5 years ago. We have experienced very dedicated teachers and staff who model the Catholic Faith. My children are challenged and encouraged on a daily basis. It is not only a school, but a community. I am a teacher by profession and couldn't ask for a better staff. ASA goes above and beyond to model faith, loving, learning and serving.

My children have attended A.S.A. since its beginning 5 years ago. We have experienced awesome teachers and a very welcoming staff. The teachers go above and beyond to meet the academic and emotional needs of each individual child. It has been a wonderful school where our children have grown and learn so much about their faith. Go Eagles!

Both of my children attend ASA and we could not be happier! From the amazing teachers to the warm and welcoming staff to the wonderful network of new parents and friends that we have made as a family, ASA is a blessing in our lives. Faith, Loving, Learning & Serving is what ASA is all about.

I cannot say enough about All Saints Academy and after reading the above negative review, feel I must share my family's experience. It's fair to say that the Kindergarten teachers(s) are some of the best I've seen. I'm also a teacher and have experienced many. The school strives to teach the whole child--spiritually, physically, socially and academically. They support and encourage all students, and address problems when necessary with the goal of providing high quality, individualized instruction. The compassion level and involvement of the administration and staff shine through. You would be offering your child a great gift in providing them with an ASA educational experience. GO EAGLES!

This is a wonderful school, provides lots of opportunities for the students - sports program, school band, and many others. My kids has always loved this school and excels in academics! Highly recommended!

This year, 2012/2013 has been a nightmare for our child at the kindergarden in this school. Our child has had problems with the teacher from the beginning and our inquiries and concerns have been met with silence by the teacher, the assistant, and the vice principal. We have found the school to be rigid and passive aggressive in their handling of our concerns. Our child has become tense, lost weight, and developed sleep problems to the extent that we have been advised by two medical professionals to remove him from the school. I witnessed the after school care staff attack our child verbally for not telling her the plumbing was leaking after using the bathroom--this child is only 6! We have not been allowed to sit in on the classes to see what is going on, and our child begs us daily to not have to go to "her room". We have paid high tuition for a large amount of stress and heartbreak during what should be a happy first year of school. When people wonder why our Diocese sees a rise in homeschooling, I tell them about the terrible performance of this school.
