The teachers are fabulous! We feel lucky to have such good teachers and a sense of community.

We had three children attend Prairie Branch Elementary from K-5, the first starting in the fall of 2005 and the last ending in the spring of 2018. We have no complaints about the school through 3 principals and probably 15 different teachers over the years, and we've heard very few complaints among our friends and acquaintances over the same time frame. We couldn't be happier with our experience in the Grain Valley school district.

I have a 1st & 2nd Grader. The principal is very inexperienced and was a former music teacher. The principal was constantly interrupt you and try to force feed her views to you almost to the point of saying "uncle". The principal and staff do not want parent involvement at all. They want to keep the parents in the dark especially in regards to testing, helped needed, etc...The secretary is one of the rudest people you meet. The guidance counselor does not follow through unless you remind her on a weekly basis. My kid was bullied on the bus. The bus driver did not doing anything about it. They told the teacher and her response was okay go to your seat. I brought it up to the principal and her response was that my kid did not follow the proper procedure because the school is not responsible if they are on the bus. It has to go to the transportation department. The school performs reading tests and then puts the student in special reading without informing the parents or getting permission. The school will not tell you the test scores even if you request it.The school will punish the students during recess for asking to go to the restroom during "specials". I had to get a doctor's note for one of my children to not be punished because of a condition. The teacher was trying to teach her to break the rules as well.My kid's 2nd grade teacher was the most unemphatic person I have ever met. She would grade below standard on an item over 1-2 pieces of paper versus the whole scope. The secretary refused to provide the school records until the very last minute. I would say for my children, my wife and myself, this school has been one of the worst school experiences I have ever heard of or seen first hand.If we were staying in the district, my wife would be homeschooling my children versus subject them to another unproductive and hurtful year at Prairie Branch Elementary.

Poor leadership with little oversight, very racially segregated and it is noticeable, staff is very young.

The teachers and staff are great. The reason I gave 4 out of 5 stars is beacuse of the lunches. My children have told me several times that by the time they eat, many of the lunch items are already gone.

Coming from another state, I can really see the difference between the quality of progams this school offers. I have been extremely happy with all the teachers, the principal and the after care program.
