I will preface this with 0 stars!!My child has attended this campus for three years and while there have been minimal issues the last two years. This year has by far been horrendous! The staff and administration present as if they thrive off parent involvement and accountability when in actuality they want the students to simply know the answers and test high, with no interaction from parents and when parents step in to seek guidance, support or clarification and attempt to hold staff and administration accountable they find any reason they can to paint the parent as the issue. Not only have I filed a police report against a teacher this year, I am now on my THIRD formal complaint with the board, have pulled my child and will be moving forward with legal steps. If you are an active, involved, and communicative parent this school will not be supportive. They focus on high score students and if your child begins to struggle in any capacity.. well it's up to your child to figure it out because 9 year olds are expected to be independent with their academic career. All while the administration allows for staff to intimidate, harass, bully, and use bias towards youth.

As a parent with children in the 6th and 9th grades at BASIS Goodyear, having experienced eight years at the school, I am overall very impressed. The academic rigor is exceptional, with skilled teachers who are deeply invested in student success. The curriculum is challenging, fostering a robust educational foundation. The school's administration is efficient and communicative, ensuring parents are well-informed and concerns are addressed promptly. However, the school could enhance its offerings by expanding the range of clubs and extracurricular activities, which would provide students with more diverse opportunities for growth and exploration.Additionally, greater family involvement would be beneficial, fostering a more inclusive community atmosphere. Despite these areas for growth, BASIS Goodyear is highly recommended for families seeking an academically challenging and enriching environment for their children.

I agree, the nurse is RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL.She has no compassion, I've had more than 3 situations with her.

This is a really bad school! The nurse is bad! My girl got hurt and fell on the rocks and hurt herself badly. When she walked to the nurse, and she was told to go away. This school is bad! I have had many other bad things happen to my Girl! The teachers are bad too, they all quit or are bad at their job, there is only few teachers that are kind and actually teach the children well. Not only that the school is built on away where most teachers in upper school have no respect for kids and parents. I have had good experiences with some teachers but most are just a disrespectful. This school is very bad please do not take your children here if you want them to have a good future, I do not recommend at all.

If I could put 0 stars I would but 1 will have to do for today. The teacher culture is TERRIBLE. They act younger than the kids. The LETs there are ABSOLUTELY THE WORST. The administration doesn’t even care about the drama that goes in with the teacher. If anything they promote these “behavior” teachers as teachers. It’s an absolute joke and it’s funny how these 39 year old LET teachers act like this. I would highly recommend you not sending your kids here.

If you are looking for a school to challenge your child academically, Basis is a great choice. While I often see and hear complaints about minor issues, overall the Basis curriculum can’t be beat. In a state that consistently is bringing up the rear in national school rankings, Basis sets itself apart from the crowd. If you are vigilant about ensuring your child receive a well rounded education this is a far superior choice than many of the other options. There are no bus services to the school and the parent pick up line is in fact a real challenge, personally for my child’s academic success its worth it. To the complaints regarding bullying, I beg those commenters to show me a school without a bully. In my opinion, they act swiftly and hold students accountable. If you’re offended by staff having very high expectations for your child in terms of personal responsibility and turning assignments in on time etc. then perhaps look elsewhere. They are not big on excuses here, from parents or students. I completely disagree with children not getting extra help or support when needed, as student hours are regularly available. In K-3 there are two teachers per classroom. Another rarity among schools. If you're looking for advanced academics, you will jot be disappointed with Basis.

When my son started Kindergarten at Basis Goodyear, we were amazed at how much he learned. I could say the same for 1st grade. 2nd grade he had distant learning. Now he is in 3rd grade and comes home with assignments that seem like he’s never seen before. So I am teaching him the concepts at home myself. I have heard the same thing from other parents. I understand Basis is all about independence and college prep but he’s in 3rd grade. If a 3rd grader needs some extra help, it should be available. If you’re student is struggling and/or falling behind, they do pretty much nothing to help them. They have student hours that are always being canceled. This year has shown me that once they get to about 3rd grade they no longer help the students and expect them to be at a certain level. Basis is ok if you have an exceptionally smart student who doesn’t need to be taught. Also, administration has gone downhill and students bad behavior is out of control.

The most major and persistent problem is this school's terrible turnover. Teachers in all positions come and go. Some classes can go through three or four teachers in one year. This is not only disruptive for students, of course, but for all other teachers as well. When there are teacher vacancies, random teachers from all parts of the school are pulled to then substitute for classes they may not know how to teach and with students they're completely unfamiliar with. As far as I'm aware, teachers are not compensated for this in any way, either, so now you're taking on a large set of extra work that you weren't hired for and getting nothing in return. This is especially an issue since it's a K-12 school, so any failing on one side of the school then impacts completely unrelated sides. What I'd imagine leads to a lot of this is how crowded the school is. The high school is tiny, but elementary and middle school are absolutely packed with about 30 students per classroom. Don't believe the stat on this page that says it's a 1:10 teacher-student ratio, because that's completely untrue. Teachers are massively outnumbered, and rooms are very small. Some teachers also don't have their own classrooms, and have to share or rotate out of classrooms, creating a daily feeling of chaos as you're constantly moving from room to room and just trying to find space.Compounding that is how students hardly get any breaks during the school day. They take a full day of very rigorous and demanding classes at all grade levels, but only get small breaks for lunch and maybe one or two recesses at most. For some grades, it could be less. It's not surprising that you coop kids up in crowded, cramped classrooms all day, making them sit and be quiet for hours, with hardly any time to let them be kids, and so that energy bleeds into the classrooms and causes mayhem throughout the day. However, when you communicate with the admin team, they'll genuinely get you the support you need, within reason. They've been nothing but understanding and genuine in all my interactions with them, and they do take issues seriously and make an honest effort to resolve them. So with a lot of the school's problems, I'm led to believe they're trying, but just spread thin or some staff members are choosing not to communicate. I've never gotten the impression that the leadership is irresponsible or uncaring. At worst, they might just be out of touch or otherwise following what mandates BASIS as a whole has.

My experience at this school currently is not going well. First off the teachers at this school either can't teach, don't respect students, or don't have experience for longer than a year teaching, or either arent certified. Another subject to touch on is the way administration handles bullying, I personally haven't been bullies but I have seen other students get bullied and the administration doesn't do anything about it, and if they do it has no effect. Another thing is that administration lacks communication with parents and students. LAdys and GeNTleMaN that's it for today on real reviews on BAsIs GooDYeaR.

Depends on the year and your preference. I personally felt it was okay overall, but they're always losing students and teachers alike every year. I also wouldn't recommend them for their infamous pickup line or their current front office

We started at Basis Goodyear when it opened and had extremely high hopes for our 3 children as a quality and challenging education experience is what we wanted for them. However, the frequent turnover, lack of communication and unprofessional behavior was too much to handle. I would not recommend you bring your children here, even the most self- disciplined, bright and passionate child can not exceed in this environment.

They need to do a better job supporting their teachers. Some many good ones have left because of the lack of respect and support from the administration and they have not been replaced.

It is awful, stressful, they play favoritism, and all around very bad.

I believe that my time at Basis was doing relatively well before it was ruined by a poor choice in teachers. Basis had let too many of the actually good instructors leave due to the refusal of raises. I give a 4.6/10

I would rate basis a 9 out of 10. We are only in our first year at basis, but I have seen such as great improvement in both of my son's (kinder and 2nd grade) love for school and their academic ability.

My child was bullied by teachers and the school did nothing about it. That teacher is still there my child was in fear.

My son was in a gifted education program at a local public school and not being challenged at all. BASIS is a dream come true for us. We spend one to two hours a day on homework but it is quality homework not just busy work. I am continually amazed at the different way the teacher challenge the students and bring out their full potential. The parent support networks are out of this world. My straight A student has to work hard to keep his A's and I am fine with that. I am even fine if he doesn't get them because I feel he is getting an out of this world education that I am so happy about.

Homework averaging amongst the grades between 1 hour and 4 hours (depending on student abilities and luck of the draw on the teachers) is against all that we know about the effectiveness of homework. Students are pushed so hard in this rigorous environment that they have little retention as they are quickly required to move on to the next topic to prepare them to be ready for their sophomore year of college by the time they are 16. Some teachers are highly effective and very undervalued, but the best teachers leave and the result is a majority of teachers who were hired as substitutes or lunch monitors now finding they have been promoted to 5th grade science, 6th grade math, or economics. Leadership knows nothing of the strengths or weaknesses of their staff, because they too are not supported in their positions. Current principal is probably not known by face or name to half of the student body, and never visits classrooms and avoids all parent confrontations. Lack of specific recognition of achievement and character combined with no set procedures for discipline creates an environment of confusion, frustration, repeat offenders, power struggles, disruptive classrooms and dislocated arms.

This is my daughter's second year at BASIS Goodyear and we couldn't be happier. As a gifted child she is finally challenged to earn her As and is surrounded by other kids who love learning as well as teachers and staff who celebrate hard work and academic achievement.
