This is truly a great school. I attended this school and my 3 daughters have gone or are going here. The principal is awesome. He really cares about the school. Anytime you visit you will see him walking around, engaging kids, staff and parents. The teachers are really great as well. Most really seem engaged and passionate about education and the children. My kids have had a few teachers that are a bit old school, which clashed with my kids learning style. However, they were all very receptive to my input/requests and changes were immediately made for the better. My kids also experience a small amount of bullying, but as soon as I brought it to their attention it was addressed in a very satisfying manor. Top notch school!

I am not sure why the previous post said that the doors are locked everyday. The middle door in the front of the school is ALWAYS open during school hours. There are signs on the doors indicating that. This is because of security purposes. You must sign upon entering the building. I have spoken with the principal many times and he acknowledges everyone when visiting for class parties. The bad review must have been an isolated event.

Glen Carbon ELementary is (was) an EXCELLENT primary elementary school. The staff, with the exception of one teacher, were all absolutely amazing to me and my son. They were intergral in getting him an early learning disability and developing the right program and level of assistance for HIM. Everyone involved with my son, from the school nurse, the teacher, even the Principal were incredible. I only wish we hadn't moved away from the area so that my younger son could have had the same experience. GC Elem. is the school by which we judge all other schools!

Both of my children have went to this school and I would not hesitate to recommend this school to anyone.
