Poor - maybe a good school in terms of testing scores, and maybe when compared to other schools in the area. However, Coming from out of state, we were honestly shocked at the step back we took.

Poor, we moved out of the area because we were not happy with the intermediate schools and felt like we were putting our children at a disadvantage if we remained. There is a huge lack of resources in this school for library, technology, art, and curriculum updates. Art is only taught in the fourth grade. The teachers are stretched so thin and need more support. Students are just another number moving through the system and not viewed as individuals.

I am proud to let everyone know that my grandchildren attend Albert Cassens Elementary School. I attend their many events. I am welcomed with open arms. The education and activities that the district offers is by far the best in the area. I have grandchildren in other district and do not feel welcomed nor do they provide the excellence that Edwardsville School District provides. My children are all trying to move to District 7 to give their children (my grandchildren) the same advantage that their cousins are receiving. If you are looking for a great community to raise your children with great schools, look no further. -One proud grandma.

If I could I would give NO STARS, Edwardsville District 7 does not care for special needs children. I fought for 9 years for an IEP for my child and they blew me off every time. Made me feel I was in the wrong for even fighting for one. My child is mentally ill, needed extra help for years and showed signs of Dyslexia. Nothing not one thing was EVER done for her no matter how much I fought. We had 1 great teacher and that was her best year. I give that teacher 5 stars! this school ZERO. The district total ZERO. Couldn't even verbally get in contact personally with Ed Hightower. Was told to write a letter. A LETTER.....REALLY. something that could be dismissed and thrown away. Don't let the rating's fool you if you aren't part of the 1% you aren't important at Dist 7. THANK GOODNESS WE MOVED!

School could be better. Let the buyer (parent) beware and don't judge the flashy facilities by its cover. Recent threat of a strike was a referendum on its own Superintendent, do nothing school board, and greedy teachers who are only as good as any training they received OUTSIDE of their home state of Illinois. Some of the Teachers are very good, but they are clouded by an inability to lead for fear of their jobs, and a school principal who could appears to just want to get the day done. Parents had better be prepared to put in the overtime necessary to get their children to the finish line. The class sizes are too big to manage effectively, must less lead. District has a tendency to put lots of spin on their status of being a good school; they use many rich donors who hold sway in the community. Legacy families and their rich children get the goods leaving an imbalance on everything from academics to who gets a better position for school clubs and instruments. Plenty of frustrations to go around as non-legacy Parents do their best to get along in a culture of snobs and clicks, while trying to escape the adult bullies. Don t let this school be a reason to move TO Edwardsville.

Like all public schools it is struggling to do the best it can for the students.
