Some of the teachers here are rude. They will call you Rude names, and even give you detention for sneezing. I got a detention for being late ONCE in the first week of school and the male students In the school harass us females. It got to the point i didn't even want to wake up to go to school. I 100% DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL.

More like babysitting unruly teens is more like it. There is no discipline to be heard of, teachers are screaming at kids, throwing items across the room at them, kids are being disruptive and nothing being done. My child went from a straight A report card to D's and F's. There is no teaching being done there and heaven forbid that you be the minority there. You are now the brunt of all hazing and harassment from the other kids. Nice building, but that is the only thing worth a positive comment there. And Parents are NOT encouraged to participate within the school.

GHS is a good school, with staff operating in the challenging environment that is NE Ohio and I applaud their efforts. However, the populace overemphasizes the sports aspects vice academics, which, unfortunately will not prepare students for the 21st Century. Further, I disagree with the parent heralding "the great principal" of long ago; that era was rife with cronyism, especially in the hiring of his kids in the school system. I transferred to Girard High School the beginning of my sophomore year of high school. I was warmly welcomed by the student and staff. Everyone is very friendly and accepting. The curricular is simply fantastic! They have so many advanced classes. They have biomed classes, college course classes, and construction classes. And even if your not in advance classes, there are numerous electives to choose from. The school spirit is the best. It's hard to find a seat at the Arrowhead Stadium on Friday nights because it's so filled. Girard offers many opportunities that other schools do not. Like to study at New Castle School of Trade, or join our nationally acclaimed robotics team. Coming to Girard was the best decision of my life. The teachers will do everything in their power to help you and make sure you pass. They are very nice and understanding. The new school has a beautiful library, and two state of the art computer labs. If your searching for a school for your children to attend, choose Girard High School. It's a decision you'll never regret.
