My two youngest children went K-5 at Ford. This is a top notch elementary school that really prepared them for Middle School!

This is a great school! Lots of parents welcomed to come a help and teachers are very good answering questions when you have them.

we have 2 kids in this school and are happy with the teachers and principle. we always feel welcome when we visit. the teachers are happy to hear from us and work hard to keep them excited to learn. try to teach 21 kids at once and see how well you do. how someone can say negative things without getting involved and listening to both sides puzzles me.

We have had a great experience at Jo Ann Ford Elementary. We were with this school for 3 years. The principal and teachers are very warm and seem to take a personal interest in the kids. The principal and even many of the teachers who did not teach my kids knew them by name (my kids are not exceptional either in a positive or negative way!). There is a good balance of academics and fun and there is a very high level of parent involvement. The principal has provided excellent leadership and has set high standards. While not all the teachers are perfect, my daughter's first grade teacher was one of the very best teachers I have seen (setting very high standards and expectations while being gentle and kind). We have moved out of state but still have very fond memories of Ford Elementary!

Unfortunately, parent statement on 2/27/10 is right. I pulled my son out of the school. There is a lot of gossip and caddiness, including from the principal. The reason you have such high scores is because of the income and parental involvement. It has little to do with the teachers. People disagree with that statement because they don't want to be seen as what they really are because that would require change. I did pull my son and would not let subsequent siblings go. The high school is horrible with high substance abuse and pregnancy.

This school is for you if all you care about is your kids excelling on government standardize tests. This school gets excellent ratings here. This is NOT a school where one can learn to be creative and think for themselves. Also, one year our son had a great teacher, but the following year she was let go because she did not conform. This was because instead of sitting in the teacher lounge and gossiping about students and parents, she instead prepared for her class and worked with students. Keep in mind gossiping among the teachers is a big problem at this school. We moved to a new school because it became so bad. In my opinion, I would never review a school solely on the State of Texas ratings. When searching for a better school we found this site to be the most informative.
