Highland Hills is an amazing school. I had an issue last year with a conflict between my son and another boy. The school addressed it immediately and both the teachers and assistant principal responded to me same day. Amazing school and both of my kids love it!

My son has received nothing but support at HHMS. Great teachers/staff that actually care about the students. Thrilled that my kids are attending school here.

This school is probably one of the most toxic environments I have ever been in. These teachers don’t teach all they do is give you a lot of homework that you can’t even do because they never taught it and then a test and expect you to know the concept of that subject. These adults don’t care about you at all you could be getting bullied or harassed or even be given death threats and these adults say that they care and will do something but all they do is tell that kid that they need to stop they don’t even punish them or anything. They could care less about you.The dress code there is also extremely sexist a guy could be pants that go down low to wear you mostly see their boxers and they don’t get in trouble but if a girl just shows a tiny bit of her shoulder we are the ones that get yelled at and then are given lunch detention. This school doesn’t make you feel safe the only teacher that made you feel safe and accepted was a certain teacher at that school but I won’t say their name for privacy reasons but because of how toxic that environment is it made that teacher try to off there-self because of the staff in that school. Do not take your kids to this school because they make you feel awful about yourself. These adults make kids mental health go down and cause kids depression.Do not make your kids go here.

No one ever cares. A few teachers are nice, but no one above the teachers seem to deal with things on a personal level. I've gotten into a fight with someone there and they said they couldn't do anything since I didn't have a full name. Teachers only give you homework and don't even bother to teach.

This school has a harresment and drug problem as well as bullying and a very racist feel. Even when adults have been informed about this nothing has happened. Also girls deserve better dress code rights. Don’t send your child here.

i give this school a 1 star because ive been given death threats, racial slurs and i have gotten body shamed multiple times. another thing is that the school said that they would press charges on the person that threaten to kill me and they never even did anything. also the say to spreed kindness but there are only a few select people in the school that are actually doing that and they dont do anything to discipline the kids that are being racist and rude and giving me death threats .

HHMS is committed to student achievement by providing remediation, enrichment, and acceleration. Teachers are committed to highly engaging lessons that create a love for learning while still meeting state expectations. They're recognized as a 4 star school and an Indiana Schools To Watch.

As a parent of two Highland Hills students I can say the school is outstanding. My Children are involved in Band, Choir and theatre. These programs are outstanding and recently earned Gold with distinction at ISSMA. My Children are in the honors program and have excelled tremendously. The Teachers my children have had have been very receptive to parent inquiries and keeping the parents involved. We have not had any issues. My Children are adopted from China and have never had any racist issues or bullying. Both have numerous friends and are very happy and well adjusted at Highland Hills. The Prinicple Dr. Griffin has a zero tolerance for bullying and the students are educated on bullying and are aware of the schools policy on bullying. Dr. Griffin is very approachable and welcomes parents to the school at any time. The office staff is friendly and helpful. Highland Hills offers a lot of opportunities other schools do not have. That is why it is a highly saught after school. Families move to this area for the schools.

Racist. Terrible bullying policy. Money minded and not culturally competent. I'm ashamed my son attends.

I am a student at hhms and I think this school is very good. The staff and faculty is very nice. the facility is in a very good environment. this is An A+ school. The only problem I had this year so far has been the 7th grade orchestra teacher, mrs. Johnson. She yells a lot and at our last concert she was very rude to the students and parents. My mother was very upset that she was one of the role models I am around everyday. All of us students agreed that we liked mr. Elmore better in the music department. But over all the school is still great

My child attended HHMS until we moved away from Indiana. We now live in a different state in a much more academically-minded community, and I see daily all that she was not taught at HHMS. There are some truly awful teachers at this school, and in spite of parental complaints, nothing is done. There is also a great deal of bullying that goes on that is not addressed, and again, parental complaints are ignored. To be fair, we found some terrific teachers at HHMS, and the music department is truly phenomenal. I hear that they are adding the International Baccalaureate diploma at FC, which is a challenging standardized curriculum. Given our experience, I don't see how time spent at HHMS would prepare anyone for this. We moved to Floyd County based on reviews we found on Great Schools, and I hope my review will help others. If you are looking for an OK school that has fantastic Arts but loves its athletics more than anything else in the world, then HHMS will work for your child. If you want an excellent education that will prepare your child for high school and college, you won't find the skills and content here to make that happen.

When I first went to HHMS for fifth grade, I was excited and nervous because it was so big. I had a lot of fun in fifth grade, but sixth grade I didn't have the best time ever. One of the teachers weren't very pleasant and we complained to the principal but they didn't really help that much. I miss my friends there and might go back for seventh grade. The lunches are great, the activities are great, and choir is a lot of fun. I think classes just depend a lot on teachers. (:

I am currently an 8th grader. We have a wide variety of sports and clubs for everyone. Some examples for sports are swimmimg, diving(since we have two pools in our school), football, soccer, track, golf, tennis, cheerleading, dazzlers, wrestling, cross country, basketball, and volleyball. For clubs we have chess, science olympiad, spelling, and many more. I also advise if you are going to be a new student going into the 8th grade to contact the school a year earlier in the case that you want to go to the eighth grade Washington D.C. field trip or else you can't go. Bullying is strongly delt with here. Especially if you talk to the principals. Classes can be challenging if you are in the gifted and talented program but they are easy if you apply yourself and study. Apart from the obvious subjects of Math, Science, English, and History you have the object to take Orchestra, Choir, Band, Handbells, Business Tech, Office assistant, Teacher assistant, Library assistant, Media and Core. Also alternating days between Health and PE and once a week for 18 weeks we swim. There are cliques, but you just have to find people who are your true friends and you'll love it here. Hope this helped.

HHMS has some positive and negative points. Positive points: Many of the teachers are amazing and really care about the students. They do offer extracurricular activities ranging from athletics to the arts. Negative : They do not really following their bullying policies that they set forth. Some teacher turn their heads while these types of actives go on. The bullying ranges and verbal threat to physical harm.
