MCHS is a unique, small private preK-6 Montessori school, unlike any other school in the area. There’s a strong emphasis on outdoor time and hands-on learning. Classrooms are small and mixed-grade. Children have access to a spacious outdoor area, where they can garden, tend chickens, build forts, and have outdoor lessons. Lots of interesting off-the-beaten path field trips throughout the year. Teachers are dedicated and caring. Highly recommended if you have a child who struggles with the rigidity of a traditional school environment, as the teachers are very understanding and accommodating of each child’s unique personality and abilities. My child who would’ve needed an IEP for public school has thrived here. Small community feel means there’s also a strong element of family engagement, with lots of opportunities for parents to be involved if they choose. The highest recommendation I can give is that my child loves going to school every day and has acquired a real enthusiasm for learning from MCHS.

Positives: Outdoor time, play, creativity, great field trips, sense of community, tuition assistance, good PreK & K. Negatives: Too much expected of parents – always asking for $ & time, inflated supply lists, poor communication, can't accommodate learning disabilities, fails to provide paperwork like assessments for district services, students/teachers are familial, lots of favoritism, bullying not addressed in upper grades, revolving door of teachers in middle grades, parents not allowed in school, one teacher is extremely mean & disrespectful, acadamics are poor in upper grades, will need outside education, 5 students held back in past 2 years, low success rate blamed on students, no functioning Board, so school has zero oversight and does whatever it wants. Tuition is raised yearly. School is 'fun' but has zero integrity.
