As an 8th grader, this school is not very friendly. Bullying is a problem in this school. Most teachers are friendly, although some aren't as nice as others. The current principal Ms. Prescott is not the best, she has enforced more rules on this school and my parents and I did not even receive an email regarding the new regulations. This feels very wrong and I am not happy with this inconvenience. I can't wait to leave this school and move on to a different high school, or hopefully an early college program. As I said before, the teachers are friendly, but many probably have to work more than one job to afford essential needs for their lives. In short, I do not recommend this school for a student who cares about their academic and social experiences in school. The school can't even hire its own janitors to clean up. Any parents looking for a school to send their child to, please think before you send your child to this school.

Hi, I am the parent of a child at this school. They do not enable my child to learn at all she gets no emotional support bad safety and okay special education. There is no way I would recommend this school to any other parent as they do not help when someone gets bullied sometimes my child comes home crying because the teachers don't even care. And now worst of all today my child lost her phone, and they would not let her go find it! call me dumb but it's one of the stupidest things I've ever witnessed I even called the school to ask if I could find it and they said no! If I could give this school a zero, I would but that's not possible so I'm giving it a one.
Teachers are caring about the students. They have a great athletic, theater, and band programs. A lot of choices for electives including AVID.

Students are given chances to retake mastery assignments. Teachers offer before and after school tutoring. Their sports program is amazing.

Teachers are caring and compassionate. Counselors want to help students find careers that match their interests and help them to develop goals to achieve them.

Cleveland Middle School has been a great experience for my daughter. She has great teachers, the ability to get involved in sports, Student Council and many other activities. She has grown as a student and a teen and has a great support network at Cleveland Middle School

It is outstanding! My daughter is finishing 7th grade this year. I have been extremely impressed with this school this year and last. All of her teachers have been caring and helpful if I have any concerns/questions. The guidance counselors really do listen. The staff I have dealt with have always been pleasant. They keep it orderly and quiet so each child can have a great learning experience. Volunteers are always needed for the Book Fair and Test Proctors. I can't say enough how excellent it is. My daughter and I love it!

Our family moved here last month, and so far, the experience of our 7th grader has been exceptional. The staff there at Cleveland Middle School has gone out of their way in making our son's adjustment to a new environment almost seamless. He has already made plenty of friends, and he's really enjoying the learning style that many of the teachers present the classwork. My wife and I are truly thankful for relocating to this area.

The principal is leaving....hooray. Let's hope they replace him with someone who can manage the middle school environment with just an ounce of compassion for students.I was optimistic about this school when we moved here. Instead, I found my child's school experience to be militaristic and sub par. My child wouldn't even take the time to use the restroom because of fear of punishment. In terms of instruction......I can't tell you what my kid learned because no papers came home. I would contact teachers and it took days for a response, if I got one at all. Very disappointed all around.

Please don't send your child to this school because it's a nightmare/prison. Most of the administration is horrible. Almost all the teachers don't even want to be there and they don't even try try to hide the fact. The teachers that are nice can change on you just like that and start bullying/picking on the students. If your child has ANY kind of chemical imbalance or ANY learning disability they don't care if they learn, pass, or fail because they get money for I. E. P. students, so they won't stand a chance. I think a school in the projects or "ghettos" would be better than this one.

Well unfortunately my child goes here and their has been some issues with bullying and teachers being rude and i think very unprofessional. I cannot wait until shes done with this school. They treat the kids lime they are 3years old and treat the parents like they are idiots.

If I could give this school negative stars, it would get the maximum available. The administration feels free to tell you one thing, do the opposite, then deny ever telling you anything. My children feel as if they are in a prison style environment. If this is a nine rated school, God help us.

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS SCHOOL!!! Mr. Byrd is a dictator principal. My kids have not been happy at this school and struggle daily to meet the demands. Missed four days of school and are threatened with receiving F's for all classes, excused or not. No matter what their actual grades are. Parent concerns are not treated with the respect they deserve. Kids are treated like elementary students and have no opportunity for socialization. Classes sizes are 30+, communication only happens when they want to inflict unjust punishments such as ASD for one missing or incomplete homework assignment. This is the worst school I have ever HAD to send my kids to!!! RUN! Don't walk away from this school!!!

This is an excellent school. Mr. Byrd is an exceptional principal and works hard to make sure that we the parents are up-to-date on whatever the school is doing. Their are also some very remarkable teachers like: Ms. Standley and Mr. Toole. They are engaging and passionate about their jobs and I wish their were more teachers like them. Children need to be intrigued in order to be motivated. This takes a special kind of teacher to push students to success and they have those teachers at this school.

The Leadership (Principal: Mr Byrd, Asst Principal: Mr Norris) are amazing leaders and mentors to the children. It's quite comforting to know Johnston County has strong leaders in our neighborhood school. When you see these Principals they are "ALWAYS" displaying a smile and a positive attitude. Mr Byrd sets high standards for conduct and it shows in the teachers, staff, students, and the facility. Mr Byrd definitely understands the Be, Know, Do philosophy of leadership. The vast majority of the teachers are great! Here are a few teachers that my wife and I believe go above and beyond the call of duty (Mr Toole, Mr Vines, Mrs Avent, and Mr Wharton). These teachers warrant praise for their positive contributions to our son's success. There's no question in our mind as to why Cleveland Middle School (CMS) continuously scores high marks for educational performance. We will miss CMS

After attending a local charter school for the last 3 years, this is the first year that I did not have to teach my child at home. He was given good instruction in class at Cleveland Middle and just enough homework and projects to keep him fresh. I could not be happier with my decision to have my child leave the charter school and attend Cleveland Middle. His EOG scores are leaps and bounds above what they were for the last three years. What else can you ask of a school?

Horrible school!!!! The administrative staff are rude and cannot be trusted. I talked with them about a very private issue with my child and next thing I know it's all over and much worse to boot! It's a shame when your child doesn't even feel comfortable enough to go talk to anyone in that school. Children need to know that they have somewhere and someone to go to that cares for them and that they can trust. Example: I was picking up my child early one afternoon for a dr appointment and there was another mother in the office and she had left before me. Eight members of the administrative staff carried on about their OPINION of this poor woman. That is a disgrace! No ifs ands or buts about it! Disgusting! Another day I was picking up my child for an appointment and hunted down on my way out the door to be questioned like a common criminal by one of the higher ups, as if I'm going to take my child out of school just because I felt like it! ABSURD! On top of that she called the drs office to make sure of it!!!! These people are more concerned about control than anything! Truly is disgraceful! There's much more important matters for her to attend than to try and play detective! Sick!!
