I've taught at 4 elementary schools over the past 29 years, and Union is hands down the best. The teachers here put in long hours, meticulously planning to best meet the needs of all of our students. Every teacher collaborates with their grade level team to share ideas and learn from one another. The staff truly cares about each other and our students. We have a strong PTO that supports both the staff and the children. Union has received numerous awards for volunteerism in the community. There are many programs in place to recognize, encourage, and support students such as advocacy groups, house systems, students of the month, care teams, free tutoring, and academic / behavior award programs. My own children were educated at Union and absolutely loved it. I've taught here for the last 20 years of my 29 year career and wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

My kids have gone to 4 different elementary schools and Union Steam Elementary is by far the best one! The teachers are so talented, caring, positive, and have excellent communication skills! I've never seen so many fun opportunities for parents to get involved. Union definitely has a close knit family feel and bullying is not tolerated. Kindness is a high value and positives are recognized and celebrated over focusing on negatives. My kids have been so eager to learn and have made fast academic progress. They are always happy to go to school and love all the hands on learning and extracurricular opportunities. The related arts teachers are top notch. Principal Taylor and Vice Principal Brosche have all the qualities you'd want in excellent leaders and are always open to parental feedback. It's so evident how much they genuinely love their job and the kids adore them. This school is truly magical and we feel so fortunate to be part of the Union community!

This is a STEAM school. The student are accepted on a lottery basis. No pretesting is required. They run on an alternate school schedule compared to the rest of the county and they do not have bus service to this school, so parents are required to take and drop students off. The school is one of the oldest in use in the city of Gallatin and located in a lower income neighborhood, but the parents that choose to put their children there are usually very involved. We have had few issues and are pleased overall. I’m leaving this review because of the equity rating. The largest problem we have had was that they do not teach spelling.

Feels like my kids are attending a private school!! The teachers genuinely want to be there and the additional staff are fantastic. Mr. Sullivan is a fantastic principle. It's a great STEM school while learning what they need to educationally and socially.

The school is OK. We expected higher, based on what we had been told and what the school claimed. The after care needs to be replaced. This was the school where the privately run daycare director embezzled almost $20,000. The school and the district did not catch it for months. The quality of care is average to below average and needs to be improved ASAP. Why not replace with the higher quality YMCA day care process that is in the majority of the schools in Sumner? The price is the same, the staff is a higher level, the parents would get a discount on the YMCA fees and the parents would have a backup for when the Union after care is close.

This school is one of the better ones in Sumner Co. However, if you have a child who is either above average or below average they might be better served elsewhere. Its a good school for average performers.

our child is now at Union. There is a huge difference in the focus of the staff and the principle (and parents) from the other school that my child attended in Gallatin/Hendersonville. Danny Sullivan is very accessible, open and knows the children by name. Prior principle at other school hide in her office and never saw her out and about. He is the type of principle that I had before growing up at a public and then at a private school. He is out in the school, helping kids out at drop off, talking to kids and parents alike. He is involved and interested. He follows up. That is a huge difference and what the other principles in Sumner County should strive for. Teachers are supportive, communicate and follow up. Parents are involved. But, it is also due to the school setting the foundation for it 1st.
