I attended Northmor from K-12 starting at Iberia Elementary and attended Jr. High before the new complex was built. I also what to put forward that I did well in all of my classes and nothing in this is directed at any teacher instead meant to address what i feel are the drawbacks of the school. While there I thought that it was a decent school system and while that was true through Jr. High, once I reached high I began to realize that while some classes were taught very well, others are not taught like they should be. Most math classes are very good, similarly with science. Where the classes begin to lack is primarily English II while English III and IV are by far the most college like classes at the school. In general Northmor has not offered enough classes for accelerated student. An example of this is me, I was nearly out of classes to take by the time I was a senior. Once I began a highly ranked college I began to realize how little I was prepared for the challenge that I was facing. This school is not a college prep school but it is a good school in general.One thing that is very good about Norhtmor though is the focus on the arts including art classes, band, and choir.

I have sent 3 children to Northmor with one requiring an IEP. The entire teaching staff ensured that any special needs were accomodated for. Overall I am completely satisfied with the education they received. One has completed a 4 year degree in 3-1/2 years graduating with honors and another is consistently on the deans list at college and is still a full time student. I have had my kids in schools in California and Illinois and I think Northmor Local Schools gave a more personalized education to my children. The brand new school buildings look great. There have been changes to staff at all the schools in the past 10 years but during the time of my kids tenure I am completely satisfied.

While there are several aspects of Iberia Elementary I am pleased with such as comunication with my sons teacher is wonderful and has been a perfect fit this year. Also the intervention specialist, speech, OT, and PT have done wonderful jobs in working with my son and with me. When there are any major problems there is usually a common factor and that is the principal is usually involved. She does not know how to pick her battles, tries to treat my child like every other child and wants him to fit in a perfecct little mold that he will never fit. My son has PDD (sensory related) and ADHD he is not going to fit into a perfect littel mold. He is 7 and in first grade and has told me he does not like his principal. That is very sad. You definitly can not be afraid to stand your ground when dealing with her,

I am an Iberia parent & notice that Iberia does take initiatives to build up students' self-esteem. There are mediators @ recess and the counselor also assists in activities. When I get any kind of remark from a teacher I immediately address with my either of my 2 children. I don't automatically side with my children but try to find out what's going on. Normally my student isn't following directions! There are improvements that can always be by teachers/schools; however it is up to us, the parents to communicate WITH teachers and to work WITH our kids to ensure that they are learning and feel secure. My children compare what they're learning with kids in other districts and Northmor is right on track, even up there with some 'better known' area schools! I encourage you to work WITH not AGAINST your school! It only benefits your own kids to get involved!
