My son participated in the ESE program at Talbot Elementary for Pre-K and Kindergarten. Overall, we were VERY pleased with the experience. Even though my son was a young student, all of the staff and teachers knew him very well, and they were incredibly supportive of his needs. Dr. Beland is an OUTSTANDING principal - and I say this not only as a parent, but in my estimation as an educator as well. He is open-minded and promotes an inclusive environment where all feel welcome and valued. During our time at Talbot, Dr. Beland went above and beyond to personally ensure that my son was always safe and well-supported in his environment. As a result, Talbot was truly a place of comfort and safety for my son, and he blossomed socially and academically there. He developed such a deep passion for school and learning that he would literally RUN to school every morning...which is one of the best feeling any parent can have! This was especially important since my son had limited verbal communication to tell me what his experience was, but his actions spoke very loud and clear. Gainesville has limited ESE resources, but I was truly blessed to have an amazing team at Talbot. I cannot recommend this school enough, especially the ESE program.

My child loves the Pre-K ESE program at Talbot and the teacher truly cares for her student's success and follows the IEP's set out consistently. However, the school absolutely needs to fix their pick up situation as it's a hazard because we don't get crossing guards (since pre-k gets out 30 minutes prior to normal school) and the view is blocked by other parents picking up their kids at a later time so we have to blindly go while oncoming cars are going 45+ mph.

It’s a very good school and the management has very well trained staff so far.I like the fact that my kids still motivated to attend school even though they don’t like school in general. The only thing I would suggest to make changes on the parking space, drop off and pickup it’s very slaw.I would also say something about the recent employed receptionist, she got some unwelcoming attitude towards me, so I try to be as careful as possible. I am used to receptionists being welcoming, I might avoid getting to the front desk for that one reason.Unfortunately my kids are still attending Talbot.

We moved to Gainesville from Nebraska last year and had our daughter in 2nd grade. It was the worst experience for both my kid and we as parents. There is no standards followed and the principal is never seen outside. Thank god, we moved to Plano, TX for this year and she is having a blast.

If you're a parent or teacher at this school, the glory days are probably over. The Alachua School system is about to transfer an administrator from Glen Springs that is without a doubt most incompetent person to run your school. The only way they can continue to employ this individual is to transfer them to a high performing school. My advice to you, is if you teach or send your child to this school is to seriously reconsider your employment location or child's school choice. The administrator will totally ruin the teachers morale at this school and at that point the school in essence will be ruined with it. Just ask someone from Glen Springs for the truth!!!!

We moved from a private school and we are positive impressed with teacher's commitment and care toward their students. There is very good communication between the teacher and parents. Talbot has a safe environment and good parent involvement.
