I love the new teachers and new staff members. They care about the students. There has been a lot of changes for the good. Although the principal does not speak Spanish fluently, she does understand it. She had been a teacher at Nicolas for many years and love the school. The office staff is bilingual, so there is never a problem with translation. Parent classes are the best. From technology classes, to high school transition classes, Miss Jessica is always there. Nicolas is a great school . Looking forward to the next school year!

This school has a new principal and she is bringing in some great new teachers. She has had to work hard to change the school from ineffective leadership. I am very happy with the direction of the school.

Sadly the school lacks a strong leadership, it is a fragmented group, This school is a HIGH need school, students are performing 2-3 grades below there present levels and the school is not culturally sensitive to the population it serves. Only two office staff (clerks) speak Spanish, Principal, AP and ALL the Special Ed team don't speak the language of the population they serve nor understand the culture to properly support the students. I would grade this school a "D" due to the POOR LEADERSHIP not the students.

I am a parent and my child is in 8th grade at Nicolas. There is a new principal this year, 2015/2016, and he is not good for the school. He, as far as I am concerned, does not discipline. He seems to downplay the kid's behavior at the school. The school is going down hill really quick. They need a good experienced principal that is going to discipline and make sure order is in all the classrooms. There is one class I know that is in chaos with kids just walking out of the room and leaving. They are loud, throwing things, etc. So loud that other teachers from other classrooms have to go over and get the kids under control. Now this room is this way because the teacher left half way thru the school year so they have subs now. Which is fine, but the subs and the principal need to make sure that class is under control by the sub/teacher at all times. It is ridiculous. My child has had bullying issues both years at this school. I can tell you my other child in a few years will not be going to this school.

I don't know why there are so many negative reviews about Nicolas. Nicolas Jr High School is a great school. The current Principal is Great! He is very friendly to students and staff. The Assistant Principal is also very friendly student are very comfortable with him and are able to tell him things they wouldn't feel comfortable telling other administrators. All the teachers in my opinion are Excellent. Teachers are very kind and caring. Not one teacher is mean or disrespectful to students or staff. Nicolas also has great academic programs like AVID and Nicolas is the only school in Fullerton you can go to have a program that provides a scholarship if a student stays in AVID from Nicolas and takes AVID through High School. There are other Academic Programs like Honor Society, ACE, and their Leadership Class. Nicolas also has a Honors Program called ACE which is a program for "Honors Students" and has higher classes like Math, ELA, Science, and History. They also have great selection of electives like Band, Choir, Dance, Foods, Art, Design, Printmaking, Publications, and ect. . I highly recomend Nicolas Jr. High School. ~A Current Student

My daughter has attended 7th and 8th grade at Nicolas Junior High. I am really pleased with the school. It has wonderful programs like avid. Nicolas is the only Jr . High School in the Fullerton District that offers this program Also, my daughter went to the 7th grade Science Camp for girls and had a great experience . Nicolas was the only Jr High that offered the Science Camp at that time . My daughter has had a wonderful experience at Nicolas. I highly recommended this school . Don't listen to other negative comments that other parents say. Come see for yourself. In addition . Nicolas has a great Principal,Vice Principal. Teachers and Staff. They encourage the students to behave well and encourage high academics.

My son has attended Nicolas Junior High School for both 7th and 8th grades. I must be honest, my husband and I sent our son to this school with great caution. However, to our surprise Nicolas turned out to be a wonderful school. Dr. Barnett is very involved with the students and eager to see the students succeed. Our son enjoys going to school at Nicolas. We are very proud to call ourselves Nicolas Knights!
