Both my children attended Hermosa from kinder through 6th grade. This was our last year with our youngest child and it certainly didn't end how we planned it with the Covid-19 shutdown. But the teachers and staff were on top of it when it came to distance learning and great communication. We are so pleased with Hermosa Drive and truly thankful for the superior and caring educators as well as the effective PTA involvement. Tons of great memories were made at Hermosa for our family!! My kids are going on to Honors classes in junior high and the Troy Tech program next year. Hermosa teachers gave our children a strong foundation to build on.

Excellent. Hermosa Dr. Elementary School is an amazing school that values parental interaction through PTA activities as well as classroom volunteering. This is a small school, and still it is an overflow school for other schools that aren't even in the same district (or city for that matter). Although Fullerton USD allows for residents to petition to have their children attend others schools within the district, many people specifically move into this schools boundaries because of the fantastic reputation this school has. Test scores are a challenge for this school as there are a large number of students that don't receive the necessary encouragement and enrichment outside of school which is unfortunate.

This is one of four schools at Fullerton School District that offers a full immersion GATE program. This is a significant advantage compared to schools in which they only cluster the GATE students per grade level with the regular class. The benefit for the student is very limited compared to the full immersion approach. Hermosa Drive offers the GATE immersion approach starting from 3rd grade. As a parent, I can tell you that we are very happy with this school as our child really enjoys attending Hermosa Drive Elementary. Mrs. Ramirez is being doing a great job since joining this school as principal. The school has great leadership. The school personnel is very professional and welcoming. This goes a long way independently if your child is in the GATE program or not. My child loves her school and that's what has been very important for us, her parents. Also, very important, there is a lot of parent involvement which as many parent would know that is an important factor for having a successful school.

Hermosa Drive has exceeded our expectations. We have been at this school for 4 years and have the teaching staff to be highly experienced, nurturing and creative making education relevant and engaging. I love that our little school has special day classes, general education and GATE all together fostering a truly inclusive environment for all children. Could not love Hermosa more!!!

This school leaves a lot to be desired. There is so much focus on Hockey, ESL, and GATE, that they leave little room for other students to receive a good education.

We love Hermosa! The teachers are amazing! When we had some decisions from the District that we didn't expect or like, the teacher and Miss Ramirez handled everything with great respect. Miss Ramirez is always available to talk. The teachers make a point to know the students and their personalities. My son has been here since Kinder, and appreciate the small community feel . We as parents appreciate the wonderful families we have met and consider them family! The encourage and appreciate parent involvement...Go Hermosa Hawks!

We are so happy to be part of this wonderful school! The teachers are so caring and take the time to help each student succeed. I have never seen a school like this one with as much parent involvement and pride as this one. This is such a fantastic school.

Love Hermosa! I agree that it feels like a small private school. Great parental involvement on campus everyday. Lots of emphasis on the arts and science/technology. Enthusiastic staff. So happy we chose this neighborhood and school!

We love Hermosa! The teachers we have experienced here so far are amazing, really getting to know our childs' strengths, weaknesses, and helping them to achieve success. It is a small school, with a community feel, that welcomes parent involvement. We couldn't ask for anything more!

Hermosa is an awesome school to attend ! I grew up in Fullerton and attended when I was a child from K-6 and now my child is attending there also from K-6. I had an option of putting her in a private school but then realized all the Hermosa staff takes such great care of our children and she has gotten a great education thus far ! It's small like a private school and we enjoy all the fun activities the school and PTA provide. My child enjoys the after school care also and it has been a great experience.

I cant believe we are already back in school and in our 4th week! We have a new Principal Mrs. Ramirez. Im sure it has been a little adjustment to our great school. With Mrs. Ramirez and our great staff we have had a good start to our school year. Mrs. Ramirez has made herself available to talk about some concerns I had. Very impressed with how easy it has been to talk with her. I really Love Hermosa!

This school is great! Dont't let the test scores fool you. The quality of the principle, the programs, and the teachers are outstanding. When the oc register publishes the evaluation of all public schools in OC you can see the breakdown of student scores by language and socioeconomic status. When you compare apples to apples Hermosa kids do as well as the Beechwood and Fisler kids. The PTA is full of highly educated, and highly motivated parents who support the foundation for high performing programs and students

We left private catholic education and enrolled our two youngest children in our neighborhood school. The two we enrolled at hermosa are getting a far superior education than my two oldest ever received during their primary years at our parish school.we. We were able to test into honors classes at LV even though we were not in GATE because all teachers and all curriculum is outstanding. The parent community is very close. The principle is the best my children have ever had in any school we have ever attending. This little school feels like a small private school that has far superior opportunities for learning, equally great social community, and no expense of tuition.

I can only agree with the most recent post of 2/1/12 as it pertains to the school's GATE program, which is excellent. But this is a school within a school. If you are Special Ed or GATE, you will have a terrific experience. If you are general ed, run for the hills. The principal is terrible - she either does not know what it takes to get the job done or won't do it. It is a very small school and turning things around should be a snap but she won't put in the time and won't make her teachers make the necessary changes to help the kids who need help. If you are an ELL student, ask to be bused to Raymond where you will get all the programs you need. We should be Title I, we qualify for it, but the staff doesn't want to be and neither does the neighborhood. People are transferring out of this school in droves and for good reason. Despite the vast amount of parent support at the school, the staff is unwilling to accept outside help except for modest classroom involvement. I will be surprised if this schools exists in 5 years. Hope the District is mindful of the changes going on and plans for this contingency.

Great school. Ms. Gilligan, the principal, is really on top of things. School events are well organized because of good parent involvement. School size is not too big so things are not too chaotic, which is great at drop off and pick up times. School has laptop program which means each child must buy or rent a laptop from the district. Would like to see API scores better. But my daughter got into the GATE program. The 3 GATE teachers and the GATE program is awesome. I think my daughter is getting a top notch education.

Hermosa is an absolutely wonderful school!!! The teachers, parents, students, staff and principal all work together to make the most of every learning day and every dollar available. This school utilizes many cutting edge electronics as well as cutting edge learning programs. It is a California Distinguished school and a two-time Golden Bell Winner.
