I do not recommend this school based on my experience. The Music teacher was quite rude and even shouted at parents, which was disappointing. Additionally, the principal's leadership style felt harsh and authoritarian. She seemed more focused on asserting her authority than prioritizing the well-being of the students. I observed instances where students were punished unfairly, without any wrongdoing on their part. This approach disregards the feelings of both the students and their parents. Overall, it felt like the principal was more concerned with maintaining control than fostering a supportive and fair environment for learning.

This school is great if you put effort into what you want out of Middle school. I read a previous comment that lied about mold. I haven't seen any mold in my 2.5 years here. The janitor lady is really nice and always smiling. My teachers show they really care about me, especially my 6th grade teachers. I loved having them! The coaches are hard, but they mean well and they know when to not be hard. The quality of the school and the experience of being in middle school can be great depending on how involved wit stuff you want to do. Great school, glad my parents moved us here!

Griffin middle school is horrible if you are concerned about something or have a problem the staff members will do nothing about it. The school lunch line is nasty. If you look closely at the ground, you can see mold forming in between the grout. When you buy the school lunch, you can’t even tell what you’re getting. I am aware school lunches aren’t supposed to be luxurious but they need to be edible. I bought a rice crispy treat during lunch and when opened it I was surprised to see mold, forming all over it.Teachers give you packets or make you watch your videos instead of teaching you, face-to-face. Several fights are broken out this year and teacher to stay into the side and watch it happen, instead of stepping in and stopping it. Some of the students start fighting each other because they know they won’t be punished other students know not to fight each other because they will be punished. The punishment is not equal for certain students. The diversity at Griffin is horrible. Griffin does nothing to prevent bullying or racism. The basketball courts are so rundown that they are so slick. This basketball season, Griffin had a home game and athlete on the away team was running up the court and slid and broke her leg because of the poorly maintained court.

I can’t believe this school is even in Frisco ISD. My daughter went to Pink and Mrs. Record set the bar high I guess. She was an amazing principal who was always available and took parent concerns very seriously. At Griffin… complete opposite. Office receptionist is TERRIBLE and principal seems to delegate his work and not take issues seriously. Instead of holding staff accountable for their actions, he seems to sweep it under the rug and put blame on the parent/student creating a toxic school environment.

I am a student at Griffin middle school. They do not let us use the restrooms during class. they only give you passing period which is three minutes long. They do not let us take laps around the halls either. We are sitting down all day and need to stretch our legs. It is honestly so annoying.

My son started at Griffin the beginning of this year after transferring from another school in Frisco ISD due to lack of support from teachers and leadership and non-effective leadership. He absolutely loves it! And so do I! Thank you to all of the leadership and teachers at Griffin who have helped my child be successful!

We loved this school until my child hit the 7th grade. The "no tolerance for bullying" is a complete joke. I am a person that believes our children need to learn how to deal with conflict themselves but things that happened at the school are completely out of control. To the person that wrote earlier about cliques, I could not agree more. There is a hierarchy at this school and it is set by the students. It seems that the teachers are afraid of their students. The phrase "Go Kill Yourself" is thrown around like "have a nice day." It is said in front of the teachers and admins and they do NOTHING. Some of the teachers are downright cruel to their students. I finally had enough and went in myself, after my child tried to speak with the counselor, and nothing was done. I am not an overbearing or overprotective parent but it had gotten to a point where an adult needed to step in. Many children were complaining about one student and nothing was done. I know kids are mean, I am not naive, but this was a whole other level. If your child is a little different, he or she will have a difficult time in this school. To make matters worse they will have no support from their teachers or the administration. It has been a long a painful experience and we have decided to leave the school and we did not come to that decision easily. We love the elementary school our child attended but something happens at this school.I am glad my child will not be there in the fall.

Griffin overall is a great middle school. We have been thrilled with the teachers/staff and programs with one exception. AP Dr. Larson... I have never experienced an administrator so lacking. She goes out of her way to make things difficult for students and parents and does not have the students' best interest at heart. Such a shame.

Teachers and administrators DO NOT respond immediately to parent concerns. They will try to sweep issues under the carpet as much as possible. Some teachers are great and truly care about their students, while most could care less (unless you hold some sort of status). It is NOT a great environment conducive to learning. Although inevitable and existing everywhere, this school takes cliques and social climbing to a whole other level! The school is full of cliques (both girls and guys) that are nasty and mean and it appears that many teachers cater to these kids. It s as if they yield power over them as well! It s really very sad. There is almost zero diversity and it s obvious that s a positive thing for them. Tweens and teens in general are at a vulnerable point in development. This school does nothing to recognize that. It s middle school! Shouldn t teachers/administrators at least try to help or be supportive with this? It s a terrible place, can t wait to get my kid out of there!

My child recently completed middle school at Griffin. I found the administration, teachers, and counselors, including the female asst. principal, to be extremely accommodating and professional. Let's face it, there are a lot of punks in middle school, and if nothing is done to keep them in order they impede learning for the rest of the kids. But if your child is a typical pre-teen who respects authority most of the time, he/she will be happy here, as mine was. Some of the teachers are truly outstanding, especially one of the ILA teachers (7th/8th grade.) Others are just okay. One was really bad, and that teacher left the school after one year. My child was at the top of the class academically and was appreciated and recognized for it. I would recommend this school.

The administration at this school leaves a lot to be desired. Some are hands off while others are tyrants. Middle schoolers can be difficult, but the students basically hope to be ignored as there is no other positive option. This was not true when the male assistant was there last year. He left, and the new male AP may turn out okay. My kid loved the 6th grade teachers, though I think those were the cream of the crop. I heard otherwise about some. Some teachers are organized and keep their website up to date. Others, not at all, but they expect the kids to know what's going on at all times. Parental involvement is discouraged, and I'm not talking about the volunteering kind of involvement. It's almost a secret as to what is going on at school unless $$ is required. The school website is minimal. Parents addressed this last year with suggestions. It fell on deaf ears. Athletic achievement is shown way more attention than academic achievement. So if your child is athletic or has poor behavior choices, he or she will get noticed. If he or she is quiet, well-behaved, academic or creative, he or she will not love middle school. This is atypical for other FISD schools.

I attended Griffin Middle School in 6th grade, amazing teachers except for the technology teacher. ( highly condescending ) Major problem: Asst. Principle ( the lady ) wasn't scared to embarace students in front of people, isn't afraid to scold someone close enough to where she's spitting your face. She scared me off!!!! I highly suggest if you were too come to this school you stay away from her. Also, when I was at Pink Elementary ( across the street ) our neighbors daughter was in 8th grade and was new. She tried to sit with girls at lunch but instead they picked on her and told her no. She told the two adminastrators watching lunch, and showed which girls it was. Instead of helping her find friends she commented " I wouldn't sit there! " and walked away. Griffin is a miserable school that changes your life by both administrators and students.

Griffin Middle School- terrible experience Had extreme issues with 6th grade ILA teacher being condescending to parents, child, embarrassing child in class, poor communications with admin over issues , child fields teacher harasses them and administration basically shrugs their shoulders at complaints. This lady is a poor choice for kiddos. Apparently parents have little voice at this school against unreasonable teachers. Other teacher experiences have been most delightful and helpful. Disappointing they'd allow one with such a bad reputation remain teaching our youth and bring everyone else down.

This school has been OK, not great. The main problem is some of the teachers, they're not good. Specifically, the 8th grade Algebra teacher/Coach is awful, he's rude, sarcastic, and doesn't teach well. You can tell he'd rather be coaching than teaching Algebra. I am afraid to ask questions because he'll probably give some snarky remark in response. All of the science teachers are bad. The multimedia/broadcast teacher is very impatient and rude. We've gone through 5 spanish teachers in 3 years. Now, let's move on to the good teachers. The G/T ILA teacher is awesome! He's funny, energetic, understanding, personable, and just an all around good teacher. Also, the history department is great, very organized and prepared us well for the state's bogus standardized testing. Now for the administration: the principal is nice, but doesn't do much. The secretaries are friendly. The woman assistant principal is a nut job, but the man assistance principal is great! Overall, this school is OK.

We moved to frisco because greatschools gave them such high scores. We've been at griffin for 2 years now and I have to say I'm not impressed with the school, the teachers or the administration.
