The principal has the tendency to get involved with very minor issues. There is a student in her office in trouble at all times. Sensitivity training is passed out for the most minor instances. It seems as though the tolerance for children being children does not exist here. She likes to make an example of kids. Counselors are the same. Lunch is constant yelling at the kids in the cafeteria. Alternatively, the school does an amazing job with art, music and PE. The environment is on lock down; very safe. Most of the teachers are great - but again, are instructed to involve the principal with minor issues, which makes the children feel like they are bad kids.

My son came home everyday crying saying that he had the worst day. They broke his 504 so many times.

Oak View Elementary School is a wonderful school. It is an older school, but the administrators and teachers more than make up for any lack of newness. Mrs. Stephenson and her Vice Principal are very active in the school. They keep the parents up to date on current and upcoming events. The PTA is very involved in making the school better. They put on awesome events throughout the year, like the Daddy Daughter Dance, Hoot Scoot Boogie, Fun Runs, basketball program for the kids, etc.. It’s the kind of school I wish I had gone to as a child. We had one go through K-5 and another one is currently attending.

The teachers are ok, the principles need to work on there behavior and attitudes. The counsler overreacts, and does not help.

We love Oakview Elementary. Mrs Stevenson has been wonderful as principal, she is caring but firm and seems to take a genuine interest in each student. Both my children love the environment and teachers, we couldn’t be happier.

Oak View is a wonderful school. The Principal is compassionate and caring. The teachers are smart and really know how to engage kids in the learning process.

This is the most amazing school I’ve ever experienced. I myself am a teacher and parent of a student here. I’ve never seen teachers, administrators, and staff Who cared so much. This is a special place!

iPads and other technology in the classroom is a great idea, however I think people failed to realized that not everyone can afford these things for their kids. I know that these were purchased for the teachers to share with those children, but I think the children that do not have their own iPad would feel embarrassed. The iPads should have been placed in one location like a computer lab. A whole class could use them at once and then the kids wouldn't have to bring them to school.

This is an amazing school. I noticed someone had mentioned the school always asking for money. Well, as a parent involved with my child's school activities, I know that students are not required fees which other schools in the county require. I also know that $75 is asked as a donation to the annual fundraiser, not a mandatory requirement. I also know the ipads for teachers were for the new integrated technology push from the district of "Bring Your Own Technology", and the ipads are used in classrooms for students' usage, especially when students don't have their own technology to use or a computer at home. There is so much to learn from technology in today's society, and I'm glad my children are exposed to these amazing learning tools. The stage curtains were replaced due to fact they became torn and were being held up by pins because they were so old. I understand that there are times when things need to be replaced, and in this case, stage curtains were one of them. I'm proud of this county's accomplishments and particularly proud that my children attend this school. I know everyone has a different opinion, but this school is amazing!

It seems like this school wants money...a lot. First of all, they want a 75 donation from each child. The letter about the donation seemed mandatory. Then I keep hearing about Hoot Scoot and Boogie (fundraiser). I'm all for supporting fundraisers if they benefit the kids, but last year's funds went to iPads for the teachers and new gym curtains. I doubt these purchases will benefit my child. Then they sell ice cream and chips at an additional cost at lunch. I don't want my kid to fill up on junk food but it's hard to tell a kid don't pick that up when you're in line. Again, more concerned with money then my kids health. I haven't seen any creative things brought home either. I only see worksheets that are usually ungraded. My kid never talks about what she learns at school either. Yes, the staff is friendly but I don't think the education is very good here. I mostly think the good test scores are due to the well educated parents.
