i attended shawnee 6-8th grade 2019-22 with mrs bender as principal 6th grade was great i was a straight b student didnt get into any trouble she loved me all the teachers loved me then covid hit and in 7th grade i stopped caring my grades went down and i became a “bad kid” as they called me this teacher got mad a at me told the principal i was going to hit her ( i was walking my friend to class and she didn’t like that) if you or your child get bad grades chances are the teachers dont like them/ you the students are mean and i had many problems with them 8th grade i got into a fight and i defended myself my putting my arm infront of my face ( i didnt NOT hit her) mrs bender came into her office and said i hit her dead in the face and i was going to get suspended i told her go watch the cameras again because i know i didnt hit her she did and she said i never hit her maybe i just have a bad experience when i was there but i would not recommend your kid going here

I am a proud parent here at Shawnee and I am proud to say my son is a high honors student with a GPA of 4.264. The staff at Shawnee goes above and beyond to keep challenging our students to help them reach their full potential and excel in academics. The principal is fantastic and truly cares about his students. He finds many different avenues to stay in touch with the parents and keep them informed of school activities. I have enjoyed my time here at Shawnee and look forward to the rest of my children attending this great school!

Shawnee is an absolutely superb school. The teachers are very caring, helpful, & always striving to help the students succeed. My son is in IEP so therefore, I am in constant contact with the teachers -- they all are quick to respond to question or concerns and always have his best interest at heart. Mr. Schiebel, the principal, is the most caring, helpful, hard-working,committed principal I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He is very supportive of students, parents & teachers alike. If there is a problem, he is quick to fix it. He is kind, fair, and funny. In my experience, the kids seem to have a huge amount of respect for him, because he IS fair and helpful. the 6th grade principal & assistant principal are amazing as well. Shawnee is a great middle school. I am so fortunate that my son goes to Shawnee. I wouldn't choose any other school for him to complete his middle school years. THANK YOU Shawnee MS staff for all you do for the parents & students!

I have had one child attend Shawnee Middle School and currently have a child there now and I couldn't be happier. The support that the kids get and the level of education is second to none. There has never been an issue that wasn't resolved promptly. Shawnee has the absolute best principal and assistant principals any parent of a middle school student could ask for. In a district that offers the choice, I would never send my children to another school. The years my oldest spent at Shawnee prepared her for high school academically in such a phenomenal way that she is currently flourishing in honors classes. I am a very proud parent of Shawnee Middle School.

Honestly, As a student I find this school to be a completely awful experience. It's very obvious that most of the teachers show favoritism, there is also a huge bullying problem. I've honestly seen students cry because of someone bullying them and no one do anything about it. The band teacher is great and so is the band class but the school gives absolutely nothing to the class. Honestly some days I would rather eat worms then go another day at that school but that's just my opinion. The library though is fantastic, I love the selection of books. -student

I love this school. My mom is making me go to portage, i really dont want to but, i would have no way to get there. My fav. teacher is Mr. Maxton. I made show choir but now i cant be in it but i wish that i could still go to this school for 8 th grade but i cant so hope that this year is a great!! Brianna Martin
