It was terrible they don't even care about us

Dr. Sharon Porter and her Rose Valley Elementary School team have been nothing short of amazing! Every staff member I have interacted with including from the principal, assistant principal, librarian, counselor, and secretary have all been kind, responsive, and attentive. As an alumnus but also in my time as an entrepreneur looking to work with schools across many states, Rose Valley Elementary School has been the easiest experience I have had. Not only is everyone friendly but they are extremely timely. With the constantly changing demands of education pulling many teachers and administrators in various directions simultaneously, it is refreshing to see the Rose Valley Elementary School team stay committed to service and excellence. Rose Valley Elementary School played such an integral role in my development 20 years ago so it is truly a blessing to see today’s staff keeping the standard of excellence alive. I pray that my future kids are blessed with the privilege to be educated by this wonderful staff. I give them my highest recommendation.

This school needs to be reviewed by the board of education. They do not follow any guidelines toward IEP’s. The teachers have attitude when you either email them, or ask questions regarding your child. There needs to be discipline both my children was bullied. One of my child got a book thrown at their face. My other child was abused constantly by other students. I never received a phone call right away. When they’re incidents and emergency’s the school does not call the parents. My children had to wait to get home to tell me about their day. I would have to call the school and their excuse was “we were going to call you ma’am.” You are dealing with CHILDREN you do not wait. When there is an incident parents should be called immediately! I work at a school and we do not work this way. I am completely in shock, now they the principals left rose valley this school year. Which the whole entire school year of 2018-2019 she was out on leave. The substitute principal was rude, would argue back. Instead of making a situation better she would make it worst. This school is terrible, I moved to fort Washington two years ago, now we sold our house to relocate because the school system is terrible. I want my children to have a better education. This school and staff are run down. Shut down the school or bring teachers that actually do want to teach and care about their students. You need a whole new administration team, office staff, and counselors. The staff you have now is not cutting it. PARENTS: please do not enroll your child here. The houses are cheap but the school system is terrible! Do not do this to your children.

I was leery of sending my son to our neighborhood school. When he didn't lottery into another school we didn't really have a choice. I was pleasantly surprised that Rose Valley is run so well. The administrative staff is great. The Principal and Assistant Principal are youthful, caring, confident and professional. The teachers are attentive and committed. I especially enjoyed the open line of communication between his 2nd grade teacher and the parents. We received videos to help with homework and emails keeping us abreast of social issues we, as parents, needed to address in order to make the days go more smoothly and help her put the focus back on learning. I believe the one missing element to make this a stellar school is parental involvement. I'll be joining the PTO again in the 2017-2018 school year to do my part and I hope others will, too. It really does take a village.

Rose Valley is full of staff members that really care about your child. We transferred out of state mid year and everyone has been so welcoming and friendly. My child is now well adjusted and doing very well with the transition. I'm impressed with his teacher and also the front staff with how involved they are with the children. Great job! I think this school deserves more praise than it has gotten.
