The principal’s policies are self serving. Even in harsh winter days forces the children out into cold to toughen them. First Fridays every month brings all parents in a show off public relations campaign. Result of just these 2 unsafe policies- kids get flue, raising extremely high absents. Principal and assistant principals don’t even reply to emails. Bullying is a real problem here as well. Lack of sane policies. Lack of teachers with real teaching experience. Discrimination behind doors. Every issue is quickly tried to hush up. My son had to spend 2 yrs of hell in this school. My heart goes out to who has no better choice given it’s a zoned school. But is you have choice don’t put this on your top 12 schools in application. Hope you avoid this school.

Best elementary school ever. The teachers are great the whole staff as well. My children attended to this school since 2008 until now that I still have little ones. Love Ps 165 .

My daughters are new in this school because of the G & T Program. In Comparison to my daughters previous school ,PS 165 have a lot of advantage base on educational program and Special activities. Staff/Teachers are really awesome specially the Principal , Shes always outside every morning and afternoon to check and to greet the parents and students. and shes always active in the Social Media (Parent Square) to remind and update all the students and parents regarding the school activities and happenings.

Don't believe what you see posted in social media. The principal spends alot of time posting pictures of herself trying to make it look like people are happy in this school. Don't believe what the principal it's all for show. This school has such a high student absentee rate the DOE has sent people to this school to check out why. That should tell you something. If you're not required to go to this school, go elsewhere or move.

I have been a teacher at PS 165 for over 15+ years.All teachers are dedicated and devoted to their students. The school developsstrong character in its students, like integrity, compassion, and respect.Each student is well prepared to excel with all they need to achieve their goals.

Since coming to PS 165, I've been so impressed by the welcoming and collaborative atmosphere. The teachers put tremendous effort in creating dynamic and data-driven lessons. The administrators set the tone with responsive and nurturing guidance while setting high expectations for students and teachers alike.

I have been a teacher at P.S.165 for 20 years. I continue to be impressed with the level of devotion and dedication of the teachers and service providers. They work diligently to ensure that every student has everything they need to excel. The administration strives to provide all the educators with ample resources to make certain that all students have every opportunity to learn. Struggling students are provided intensive interventions to bridge any existing gaps. The parents are invited to be active participants in their children's educations. The school community is warm, responsive, and inclusive. I recommend P.S. 165 to any parent who wants to provide his/her child with a nurturing, high-quality education.

I have been a part of this school community for many, many years. When you step it.....it hits you! The community feeling. Every student is given the tools that are necessary to become a stand-up member of our school and their community. Each day begins and ends with strong Social Emotional Learning activities. Our school has a wonderful Arts Department where students dance, vocal music, and visual arts are brought to life. Each child is given an enrichment activity throughout the school year. Our motto, #FromManyWeAreOne. We live by it--one mission, one vision, 165! During SEL we show students how/why to Be Kind, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, as well as, INTELLECTUALISM, DIVERSITY, iNCLUSIVITY, and PERSEVERANCE. Once you step into 165, you may not want to leave.

There are not enough wonderful things to say about this school. Every staff member exudes great compassion, care and concern for all of the students. Staff members work together and collaborate to meet the diverse needs of all children. Staff members also receive continual professional development and trainings to further enhance and deepen their understand of not only content and curriculum, but also about equity in the classroom, social emotional learning and culturally sustainable education. Moreover, this school has a variety of special programs like the gifted and talented program and the ASD Nest program. Enrichment activities on each grade level are also provided for students to enjoy outside of core content areas.

PS 165 has a diverse population and focuses on teaching respect, kindness and inclusivity. Students are challenged and encouraged to meet their personal best. There is open communication between the staff and the parents. You can easily get in touch with teachers or school leaders when you have a question or need information. The school has dance, music, art and a lot of technology available for the students. Highly recommend.

This school is full of wonderful teachers who care for and support each and every student. There are many wonderful programs including their special education program, gifted and talented, as well as many arts programs.

My Daughter had a wonderful kindergarten experience at P.S.165Q. Wonderful S.E.L activities for arrival and right before the Children are dismissed. P.S.165 has wonderful enrichment activities to keep the children active physically and mentally. My Daughter loved yoga and i know all the 5th grade students loved chess. The administration is welcoming and always willing to help Families and of course the children. I would recommend this school to anyone and everyone. I was once a student at P.S.165, and it was a nice experience years ago, but the school is in good hands and has came a long way with the New Principal, Principal Nealy.

PS 165 is a wonderful school filled with academic rigor and joy. The school has a robust ARTS department, Gifted and Talented classes, classes for kiddos with ASD, and enrichment for all grades. We have 2 full time Guidance Counselors, a Dean of Students, a Parent Coordinator, and a host of staff ready and willing to support kiddos and their families. There is an open door policy for parents to meet with teachers and administrators. Not only does the school focus on academics the school also focuses on social emotional learning every day. This work is essential to the success of our students. We are a community of caring professionals and if there is ever a problem we believe in working through the problem professionally and with care.

I warn those who want to send their children to this school. Avoid this school and look at the comments below. They are not fake. My child does not even want to attend school, he is even afraid of going to school. This school is full of disrespectful and racial discrimination. The principal doesn't even respect the parents and refuses to listen to them. Avoid this school at all costs. The staffs at this school are always trying to cover up their mistakes and are very ineffective at fixing problems. I really question the degrees of the teachers and the principal. They don't know how to communicate with students and parents. A very funny school full of jokes.

It is an amazing school with fantastic staff and administration. They work with both families and students to make a successful school experience.
