Although Jana is now closed the friendships created with peers will last a lifetime. The teachers were simply the best under the leadership of a wonderful and caring principal. Jana was a school emphasizing the development of all students beyond the Chromebooks.

The staff works hard to help each kid achieve. It is a smaller school in the district and the kids benefit from that. We have enjoyed all of our kids being at Jana.

This year is bittersweet, while it makes me sad to see my child moving on to middle school, I am grateful that he will no longer have to attend Jana. A few years ago, it seemed like a great school. The teachers are wonderful. However, there is a major bullying issue that needs to be dealt with, but the principal doesn't want to admit there is a problem. She often sides with the bullies. The teachers cannot possibly take care of this on their own. Something needs to change. God bless the teachers for staying as long as they have. Walker Elementary has shown huge improvements with change of principal. Jana should follow their lead.

It is unfortunate that our students have to endure such unfairness. The principal of this school is one of the worst that I have seen in my lifetime. She is very bias, she shows favoritism, and treats the children as if they were inmates; not to mention she loves to play warden. The principal belittles and looks down on her staff and speaks unkind to her colleagues. This brings me to my point of how the principal abuses her position. It is clear that parents are not as involved as they want to be mainly because of how unwelcome they feel. The school's principal is also very harsh on the students with consequences and reprimand. She is quick to suspend an elementary student rather rectify the issue in other forms. Some of the teachers at Jana are not tentative to the children and allow dangerous events to occur. Students do not feel safe and this is a huge issue. At some point Jana was a great school but I guess until a person of good leadership comes along, Jana will continue to decline instead of develop!!!!

Both my children went to Jana and our experience has been mostly positive. They have had some very awesome teachers over the years. There were a couple of teachers we didn't care for and they are no longer at the school. I feel my kids got a good education and were very well prepared to move on to middle school.

My son is about to finish Kindergarten at Jana and we've had positive experiences there this year. His teacher is always very responsive to emails and invites parents to help out atclass parties. I've also had positive interactions with the school counselor, who has been very genuine in supporting my son's learning. Most of all, I appreciated his help when I had concerns about my son's recess time being taken away as a punishment for acting out behavior. He spoke with the teacher about our concerns, and when my husband and I met with my son's teacher about it, she was understanding and receptive to suggestions of alternative consequences for the behavior. Lastly, our son had the opportunity to participate in the GO! St. Louis Read, Right, Run Marathon with the dedicated leadership of one of the P.E. teachers. We really love Jana, and are a little sad that my son won't be able to continue there because we're moving to another part of the district in a couple of weeks.

I like jana. My daughter has learned a lot from her teachers. My son is learning good educational things also. The teachers are wonderful.

Jana used to be a great school. I have had children there since 1996 and let me tell you it has gone down hill.I've been through 3 principles, countless teachers and let me just say that every year is worst than the last. This is my last year to have kids there and I could not be more excited to be done with this school. I actually have a countdown for how many days I have left. The new princple has ran it into the ground. As long as she is there, there is no hope for the school to turn around. It's sad to see a school that used to be one of the best in the district turn out to be one of the worst.

this school's principal made this school from a 5 star school to a 1 star school. they teach the kids that you have to compeit to win their attention, witch makes kids try to stand out but when they do, the school punishes them for the teachers bad judgement so all i have to say is that you'd be better of home schooling your child then exposing them to unsatisfactory behavior. sorry jana, it's the truth!
