HelloI am truly surprised on the low score for Howitt Middle School. My daughter started in Fall of 2023. We find almost all of the teachers to be amazing and engaging. They all put extra time into their work and time with their students. They have an amazing ICT program that goes above and beyond. We love the school Guidance counselor, who is open and friendly. For the first time my daughter understand ls math and is doing amazing due to the ICT class and she made honor roll. Which made her fell great.Is everything perfect no not everything is perfect but the faculty and administration is willing to listen and make changes all the time.They also engage with student during different activities including faculty vs students. Like a field day so cute! I am so impressed by the music department and all of the teachers, they are beyond exceptional. After school programs the school comes alive. There is a club for everyone and every interest. The library runs a knitting club with over 50 students male and female.The school musical is phenomenal beyond words. They have after school help for every major subject. There is no bullying and it’s because they were raised that way throughout school and it shows since they started school here it is considered unacceptable and it’s not put up with and it’s dealt with right away. Almost all the children have a group of friends they hang out with and even if they don’t, the kids are kind to them and appear inclusive. I would give Howitt a 10/10 and think it is better than any private expensive school. My daughter, with hard work and support of her teachers is doing so well academically, not even how she tests but what she knows. Her growth and knowledge is unbelievable.Every child is welcome and included. Howitt seems to hold the values I have raised my daughter with and value.I feel so luck to be part of this great community.

This year was my son's first year in HMS for 6th grade. From what he told me, this school seems like a great environment for students. The teachers are all very nice, no bullying, great leadership, and my son already made a lot of new friends. Overall, 10/10. Great school, would recommend.

My three children were in the Horizon Program and got the best education in Farmingdale Schools. Their education helped them achieve their goals as professionals today earning a great living. They were taught structure, discipline and responsibility.

This is my daughter's first year (2016) at Howitt and she has transitioned as well as can be expected. She is in the Horizons program (advanced academic program) and has been maintaining a high honor roll GPA throughout the year. She is part of the school orchestra and chamber orchestra as well attending several after school clubs. The school has many resources to take advantage of. As with most schools, teachers make the difference. My daughter has been lucky in that her core team of teachers are good and challenge the kids. It is very easy to communicate with them via email when necessary to ensure my daughter gets the most out of here classes. Overall this is a good school but as with with any school and child you must have some involvement to ensure you are getting the most benefit.
