As s teacher for over 30 years, I can assure the parents that these students are kind and show compassion for one another. This was my first year at this Academy and I really enjoy being a teacher here The staff is wonderful, too. Under new management in 2023-2024, the principal is guiding the school on a positive direction.

My family has been with the school since it opened. It is an incredible place if your family appreciates a classical education, pen and paper learning , and an emphasis of core values and integrity at the forefront. We enjoy their sports programs as well and my children have thrived here.

My children started attending LTA last year, and we love it. The education is amazing, and the staff are kind and helpful. My kids have found a good group of friends, but like any school (at least in the upper grades) there are groups and cliques--LTA isn't immune to that--but it hasn't been an issue for my students. Cell phones are not allowed in class, which is amazing, and I love that my kids are learning in a traditional manner instead of being given an iPad to complete programs that require very little teacher/student interaction. In lower school (my child was in fifth last year), cursive is taught, which is important to me as a parent, I understand it's not the same for everyone. And, for once, my children are challenged in school--I love watching them rise to the challenge. And I love being in a school where students are actually appropriately disciplined for misbehavior.LTA is a very academic school with a traditional learning style that won't fit all students and, as a charter, they have limited resources when it comes to SPED and students on 504s and IEPs (that's been my experience with both charters my children have attended, I'm not sure why they're set up that way--perhaps a lack of resources from the district or state), but I know students who have still thrived in this setting--it's definitely a case-by-case situation.I highly recommend LTA.

I'm an ex student of this school. I had been at the school since the the start and when the school itself was first built. At the start, I was absolutely in love with it. But as time went by, my experience started to worsen and go only downhill. The teachers are often very inconsiderate and dismissive, especially a few select ones more than others, and the favoritism in some classes was horrible. The teachers are also just as involved in drama and gossip as the students often were. Next, no teachers were ever held accountable for their actions. There were multiple occasions when my teachers said rude or private things about my classmates or even me to the whole class, among other things, and they barely got as much as a slap on the wrist. I think this is because the majority of the staff are all friends with the principal and higher ups, and you can probably see how that would create bias an a bigger issue. Next, the school really does not know how to deal with kids that need extra help or kids that learn differently. I have math comprehension skills, and my teacher was nothing but dismissive. They seemed confused whenever I would ask for help, and they would get snappy and upset with me for not meeting their too-high expectations. I've currently learned that I have a math learning disability, and my new online teacher is better at accommodating me for that. That leads me to the next topic - LTA is down right horrible at following or accommodating with IEP or 504 plans. I feel like this school has no idea how to handle kinds that aren't perfect A+ mentally above average students. The bullying at the school was never investigated or taken seriously either. My brother was is always targeted not just by the teachers but the principal as well, and it makes him feel uncomfortable and like he cant do anything there anymore. I was very isolated from my peers and left out of pretty much every activity. The older kids aren't rude to say, but don't really feel the need to include those outside of their main posse. The school did have a pretty good curriculum and learning format for the most part, though. If you and your kid are looking for a more in depth and rigorous learning experience, it can be good.

I subbed here during this year one time. That was one time too many in my opinion. My first impressions were that the building is beautiful inside and out. The school had a nice school choir performing on tv for the school (neat!). I thought this would be a typical, easy day.BUT OMG Behavior was off the chart horrid with the 7th grade students. I had been to numerous area schools as a sub, but this one stood out because the student behavior was egregiously bad. I mean students would not wear a mask even when reminded to do so since it was required state-wide. Students would just walk out of the classroom without asking permission during class time. Students were constantly on cell phones. The lunch monitor seemed too beat down to actually do anything about it. Most classes were overcrowded even for pre-pandemic standards. I had to call the front office and then later found out the 3 of the students were making lies about my actions. I doubt anything was done, and to be honest, the school should have called me to apologize because I had never been to a school with that many off-the-charts defiant students. I certainly did not expect this on the outskirts of El Paso county.

This school has become terrible, we have been with the school since the beginning when they where great, even without a building of there own. Now the school only cares for the outward appearances, the care for the students from the school as a whole is like a master would treat a surf! The school belive that it is right to lie or at least hide the truth. Bullying is allowed between students and from teachers and staff to the student, there is a small show that the school is addressing the issue but reality is that the negitive issue is allowed to continue. This school needs new leadership and to have people placed into the proper positions based on skill not relation to another employee or board member. The principal is not qualified and lacks the ability to run the school.

Principle is horrible. They don’t have the care to help students with disabilities. Many parents pull their kids and I would not recommend this school.

We are thrilled to have our two children in this great American traditional school My daughter was doing math in 2nd grade her brother did in 5th at his old school in Illinois which was rated 9/10. He is learning Latin in 7th grade, reading classic literature, true American history with caring teachers. My daughter is learning cursive in 3rd grade and about the US constitution. They didn’t wear masks last year or this year (2021). We are truly blessed to attend this free charter school
