Oakbrook is an amazing school.I go there and I'm in 7th grade and I feel joy being there with my friends. One of the greatest joys was dancing and theater! Another great and amazing addition was miss Turner in my 5th grade years, She was the most fantastic and influential principals I ever had and I wish her the best! The teachers are amazing and so kind especially Miss McGinnis she was amazing! So before you think about other schools you should really think about what school would make your child happy!!

This school is HORRIBLE and has failed to keep my child safe. There have been several incidents with my child and not one has been properly addressed. This school encourages bullying and harassment of ALL kinds by ignoring serious issues. The special education staff abide by IEPS if and when they feel like it and going to the principal to address anything at all is a waste of time. you have to basically track her down to get her to talk to you and she plays the concerned role very well and never follows up. The school was on lockdown due to police chasing someone in the area and parents weren't notified until over 2 hours later! Stay FAR away from this school.

Oakbrook was better before. I hate all this focus on art and theater. The performances are always typical elementary level stuff. Nothing that required a fancy new theater. They don't give homework, they give students gum and candy without parents permission, the parking lot and street is terrible before and after school. The lowered expectations is concerning.

The school name is actually Oakbrook Academy of the Arts. It’s a wonderful school with focus on incorporating the arts into regular curriculum. They also encourage students to participate in extracurricular activities at the school such as art, dance and theater. I’m very happy my students were able to attend this school out of all schools in the Fairfield Suisun school district. I hope that the school district continues to support the wonderful development that has occurred at this school site.

I LOVE Oakbrook - I have sent four, soon to be five children here, and I highly recommend this school. Their arts program has won state awards, the principal is INCREDIBLE, and the school's commitment to educating the whole child is second to none. If you want a perfect test score, UC-bound kid who listens and speaks when spoken to.....go somewhere else. If you want a happy, well-rounded, creative and engaged child, then Oakbrook is just the best. I can't believe I got to send all of my kids here for free! I'm an educator who worked at a school where parents payed tens of thousands of dollars for an education like this - and it wasn't nearly as good.

LOVE this school and the Principal & Staff. Just like everywhere there is bullying, and I know they try to do as much as they can and what they are allowed to based on what the district & Superintendent says.

Oakbrook has been great for my second child. Since it became an Academy of the arts it has really changed for the better. Children have dance, art, music and PE every week. When my first child attended she didn't have any of that. I honestly don't like public schools, but this one is a gem. It's a good size, not too big and class sizes are not out of control. So glad it's out neighborhood school!

A school is only as strong as its community... principal, teachers, staff, students, parents/families, and neighbors. Having been at Oakbrook for 3 years now with children in four different grade levels, I can assure you this is one of the best schools in Fairfield. Oakbrook has a family-like environment where each student is important. Oakbrook has its occasional issues, like any other school, but it's how Oakbrook handles these issues and then uses them to learn and grow from that sets them apart from other schools in Fairfield that instead choose to sweep them under the rug. There is no perfect school that is runs exactly how every single parent thinks it should be, but Oakbrook is pretty close.

The school allows too much bullying. I met a parent last year who was walking infront of the school holding a sign that said the principal at this school allows bullying. I asked the parent and she informed me that her child had been cyber bullied and threatened by another student for 2 years. The school is a K-8 school that lacks order and discipline in the upper grades. As the other review stated order is not enforced at this school. I would not send my child to this school.

Justine Turner is a great principal who really makes an effort to be one of the school community. No matter the event, you will see Ms. Turner there celebrating her students, and likely pushing a broom around the multipurpose room at the end of the night. As Oakbrook has grown in the last 6 years from a K-6 to a PK-8 the PTA and Staff have reached out to find new ways to teach our kids while incorporating Visual and Performing Arts into all curriculum. Ever wonder what Math and Art have to do with each other? Just ask a student who is learning ratios - they learn how to build a portrait based on ratios. Together with the PTA, the teachers, administration and staff at Oakbrook make it a welcoming place to learn, take academic risks and GROW!

Mediocre teachers, staff and principal are friendly but don't enforce order at the school. I've witnessed staff and other parents being bullied by other parents and pta board members. I was disappointed that the staff tolerates the behavior and refuses to take action to make sure the school is a safe environment for all students. It takes multiple phone calls to get a response and when they do finally get back to you they are dismissive of concerns. Children freely come and go from classrooms even though all the doors are supposed to be locked.

Oakbrook has been an amazing first school experience for both of my children. My older child has been fortunate enough to be placed with teachers who challenge him to be his best self - not expecting him to be the Model Student. WIth the support of his teachers he has qualified for the GATE program, and with some sadness he is moving on to the GATE Magnet next year. My younger child is entering 1st grade this year, and has told us she LOVES Oakbrook, and intends to graduate from this school, even if she is invited to the GATE program for 3rd grade :) We love Oakbrook - the principal, the teachers and the PTA are all resources that make this school extra special.

Oakbrook Elementary has been a wonderful experience for my daughter!!!! I love the teachers, staff, and all of the hard working parent volunteers that make Oakbrook a top notch school. I can not say enough good things about the current principal, she is one of a kind, and I have never seen or experienced a more involved principal. My son will be starting Oakbrook next year, and I can't wait for him to experience all that the school has to offer!!!

Oakbrook is a slice of heaven in suburbia. My family has been going to Oakbrook for seven years. Even in these rough economic times for both families and schools, the parent volunteer and the teacher support at Oakbrook continues to stay high. The principal and the staff work together to make Oakbrook a wonderful place for our children to get their educational foundation in Cordelia.

I have had my daughter at this school for 2 1/2 years and will soon be having my son attending for the 2011-2012 school year, and I have to say I love this school and the staff. My first year at the school had a principal that was good, but the current principal goes above and beyond the call of duty. With our school losing PE, the principal takes each grade level to continue activities with them. When we lost our music program, another teach stepped up, taking her own time (not getting paid for it) to teacher choir after school for those children that wanted to learn. The PTA staff continues to bring in great assembly programs and events for both students and parents to participate in. During these hard economic times, I feel that the teachers/staff/principal/PTA board has gone above and beyond the call of duty to keep our kids in a good/safe/educational environment.

I was impressed with the school, that is until they lost my daughter. I didn't know it was a half day, and she was in the office. My daycare provider came and got her, but the office wasn't aware that she left and called me to come and get her. One of the ladies (not the usual staff) made a "we had a lot of children to watch" comment...like she expected me to accept that as a valid reason for losing my kid. Fortunately, all the teachers have been great and that was the only event that really turned me sour towards to the school.
