My expirience at this school has been absolutely horrible and disappointing for the mostpart. Throught my short amount of time being a middleschooler, the system at cascade has brought me almost nothing but disappointment and overall frustration. Every day I wake up and I dread seeing the administrators. They treat you like small children with no better judgment, and there is a strong and clear bias among student and staff relationships. Going into middleschool, I was very excited to see what it had to offer- however, I have been very deeply saddened by the progressively worse acedemic and social opportunities i have been given. Oftentimes, the vice-principal will preach about how he wants to raise the 'feeling of belonging' at our school, but he has done nothing helpful to make students feel like they belong. Often, in the 6th grade I would come home in tears due to poor bullying prevention and feeling like I was a 'freak'. When I would talk to my teachers and councilor about how outcasted I felt in this school, it wasn't until I changed myself that I finally felt like I belonged. This school system has brought me almost nothing but sadness and pure dissapointment. I met the current vice principal, and all he does is bully me and then switch up and act like my friend. I hear vulgar speech every single day , walking down the hallway. I am afraid to act or dress how I want for fear I will get bullied worse than I already am. The administrators do nothing to help this, as they often show no improvement after promising change. I have a good amount of time left, and I only dread it. I get body shamed, as I am naturally a bit chubby, I get called sexist things by both genders, and every day at this school makes me feel like a freak in the worst way. I saw a review that said it's like they teach a class on bullying- and i strongly agree with that. Please do better, i feel like crap. Also it's not a teacher problem, most sixth, seventh, and some eigth grade staff are amazing :))

I went to middle school here and recently left after finishing 8th grade. I think it’s a very disappointing school in a lot of ways. I’m a fast learner and tend to be more academically advanced than my peers. This school does nothing about that at all. They have some ways to help kids that are struggling (although clearly not well enough because most people were still doing very poorly) but no way to challenge you or help you at all if you do well. I felt very ignored by the school. Especially in math. Currently it says on here that 24% of students take algebra, but that is outdated and not true. They don’t teach algebra at all. They only have one class in a subject in each grade level and will not let you take anything outside of your grade level. They told me I could go to the high school next door to do advanced math but the administration did nothing to further that and just ignored me. They are really the problem here. I had some great teachers who tried to help me but it was clear the administration was too busy or just didn’t care. Another big problem was the students. There was a lot of mainly homophobic and ableist language that no one did anything about. I told the school about this a few times but they did nothing to try to stop it. I often heard slurs in the hallways or even in classrooms where teachers did nothing. Even at one point there was a homophobic slur in a book we were reading and the teacher didn’t warn anyone and had a student read it out. Although that was really the only problematic teacher I had. Most were good and wanted to help students learn. I had some really great teachers there that tried to help me the best they could, but sadly they were held back by the school. I no longer go to school in this district in part because my time at Cascade has made me lose hope in the administration and their care for students.

I am just a citizen who lives close to the school and I have witnessed and had a personal experience with students after school yesterday I was walking and the students where yelling vulgarities and threatened me and I also witnessed them bullying other people.. I am currently waiting on a returned call from the principal to see how they are going to deal with the level of disrespect that is coming from their students to the community

i would like 100 bucks for giving you a good score because this could help the school.

Academics are ok. Lots or kids with social dysfunction like racism and homophobia.

It has been an ongoing battle. Every year (second year for my son) gets worse. Between the constant bullying and teachers failing to follow through, I am exhausted from the ongoing battle. This school is organized chaos at best. I wish I was in a position to transfer my kids but it’s not an option.

OK school so far as far as the learning environment and my students success. There are a couple of things that would make the middle school years easier on the parent side. One, communication between the school and parents could use some serious improvements. At our previous school, the principal was fantastic with sending out emails about anything concerning changes or early release. My child's schedule was changed and she was pulled from a class with no email or any letter or anything coming home to me toward the beginning of this school year. Apparently it was all of 6th grade who received changed schedules out of the blue. I heard nothing from the school. Very disappointed with communication. It's not that hard to send an email to the parents. Cascade has some work to do to become a "Great School."

Since my daughter has started cascade middle school I have not seen her bring home not any type of school work that she is done in your class or even homework that they wanted to do at home?? My daughter is in a special-needs class there and I'm concerned on exactly what she does while she's there at school? I noticed when it came to budget cuts that the special needs classes seem to have the most impact . At Danabo elementary school her class was completely cut out of the entire school academics! And I recently learned that at cascade middle school they don't have any communication devices to help my daughter communicate while she's at school, and we all know that communication is very important in our children's education.

Inexperienced principal. Teachers often miss entering homework grades and enter it with differing standards between the classrooms. Often, grades are entered at the last minute before the grading cycle. Its left to the parent to nag at the teachers and principal about missing homework. The school feels its the parents fault and sends hand-written notes to the parent to sign agreements about the missing grades for the student to get extra credit, so the teacher is clear of all responsibility.
