  My son went from Kindercare to kindergarten here and it was a dramatic change but we kind of expected it to be. Communication was non-existent between the teacher and us. When we asked questions we would get confusing or conflicting answers days later. What little homework we had sent home was clearly out of step with what he was doing in class. The principal repeated lied and made up regulations when she didn't want to do something and kept doing it even when she was called out on it. After the first year we moved and ended up at Alberta Smith where it became clear that after a year at matoaca, our son was essentially a year behind. It also became clear that something was socially messed up at matoaca. My son went from having rage issues and being in therapy once a week to being fine as soon as the school year was over. Pretty clear that the miserable pass rate for math and English is deserved.

  Matoaca Elementary is the best keep secret in the Chesterfield county with great students, parents, teachers and administrators. The support staff is amazing too. From the moment you enter the hallway there is a warm inviting feeling.

  Absolutely the best elementary school in the Virginia! This is my third generation of students to attend Matoaca Elementary School. I thank the teachers and staff for providing such a great learning and nurturing atmosphere for my children.

  I have 2 sons in this school and I am very pleased with Matoaca. They do so much for the kids and really pour their hearts into them. We have a new principal and assistant principal this year and so far they seem like the perfect fit for our community. Very approachable and warm.
