My daughter is in 2nd grade and loves school. She is always excited to learn, and her teacher is wonderful and supportive. All of the staff and administrators seem to truly care about the school community.

I have a niece in Second Grade and her teacher is god awful. She neglects to take even the smallest consideration in terms of the situations and different life environments her students are learning in and doesn’t even try to accommodate the learning experience to THEIR individual level since not all kids successfully learn the way the flawed online curriculum wants them to. It’s ridiculous that an elementary school teacher can’t even grasp the concept of children not being able to learn because of the insane work load expectation considering that more than HALF of the children’s parents do not speak the language and are not equipped to help the kids with hw at home leaving them to academically depend on themselves and the school system. Despite this, the teacher allows for them to continue to fail and make the child feel as though it were their fault which is just as absurd since we are in a Pandemic and her teacher can’t find the humility to reach out or try to accommodate the lessons or slow down for them. As a result, said new teacher would rather would let the child continue to suffer academically and mentally to some how marginalized the child as a “troubled” child when the truth is the school never supported her or cared especially not her teacher. Not only does her mother get bombarded with emails and phone calls at her job but now take that into psychological perspective of the child and parent dynamic or rather is it that too hard? Not only have a I PERSONALLY sat next in on multiple zoom calls and heard the condescending and pretentious voice of her teacher IGNORING this 7 year old child and speeding through her lessons as though there were more important things for her to do. I’m extremely disappointed this teacher was hired but not surprised from the results since this is her first year and she seems to fit the uncanny stigma of all the female educators at Alice E Grady. As a concerned family member and taxpayer of the town, I demand that the school board AND the principal look into this teacher and periodically monitor her lessons and students and take into account everything I have shared because I can guarantee if you surveyed the parents and student who have her as a teacher, you will discover a pattern. I will not stop trying to shed light on this issue not just because this is my niece but because all the students in that community deserve teachers that are motivate and determined to help ALL the children to excel as far as possible.

I am disappointed. With the amount of property taxes we pay in Elmsford, you would think they would offer more help to students and support teachers more.

I am proud to be a parent of two ESD students. The curriculum is strong and the teachers are personable with great class sizes and student attention at the elementary level. There is not a greast deal of good publicity that this school district gets and I think that it is a shame. There is too much negative hearsay about the climate and make-up of the schools from people who do not know first hand. I don't know what people are afraid of when they decide not to send their children to ESD. I pulled my kids from an area parochial school because of the outdated curriculum there. Anyone who knows anything about education understands that teh ESD is a good place to be and moving forward in the right direction. Kudos to students and staff of ESD.!
