Amazing Experience! So grateful my children are part of such a wonderful school!

Immaculate Conception School has grown over the past few years to make the proper corrections to their program as a whole. Reading through these other reviews makes it evident that many may have been hurt by prior regimes. It is nothing like that anymore. Our new principal and the installation of a Board of Directors has brought back the culture of LOVE and CARE that has been pillars of ICS success since the early 1900's. I feel sad that some have had a bad experience, because it is not a true reflection of what ICS is and how ICS operates. It is a place of high academic standards matched with the proper love and care to help students reach success. There is development of the full person at ICS; academic, spiritually, physically, emotionally, mentally. It is a special place and I feel sorry that some families did not get a fair chance to experience the love at ICS.

Our experience has been wonderful! We pulled both of our children from the local public school and have been nothing but thrilled. Immaculate Conception has offered our children a safe, comfortable, community-oriented environment. They have helped our children adapt, and were patient with them as they were getting used to new, more challenging, academic standards. The teachers and staff have always gone out of their way to make our children feel welcomed, cared for, and appreciated. Any concerns we have voiced were handled effectively and quickly. I see an amazing change in my children. They are growing into compassionate, hard-working, faith-filled students. I am constantly overwhelmed by the sense of community that exudes from the parents and students at Immaculate Conception School.

Our experience has been excellent. I am so impressed with the way the ICS family has come together and is working for positive, meaningful growth. No place is ever perfect, but I feel ICS does a great job helping kids grow into compassionate, successful and faith-filled young men and women. I would highly reccomend ICS to anyone committed to a quality Catholic education for their children.

My experience with ICS was nothing short of a nightmare. My daughter attended for almost 4 years. From day one, the principal discriminated against my family, likely because we didn’t fit into her mold of what the perfect ICS family should be. I’m a never married single mom and my daughter’s father wears jeans, Timbs, hats, and hoodies, and owns a landscaping business. He never fit in with the other dads there, not that he cared. This judgemental woman used to disdainfully look him up and down everytime he came into the school. The amount of snobbery at this elitist school was sickening, especially since I am a member of the church and I even taught Sunday school there. My daughter was also bullied by some of the boys in her class daily and the school did nothing. They constantly treated my family & I like we were not good enough to join the “ICS club.” They also complained repeatedly that my daughter needed individual math help. After 3 years of abuse, I started calling them out on their attitudes. I wrote emails and had conferences. I stood up for my daughter and my family. We paid the same tuition as everyone else, yet we were never treated like everyone else. I told them that they were supposed to model Christ and that they were unchristian. This did not sit well with them. They called me to tell me (over the PHONE!) the DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS break to withdraw my daughter from school or they would kick her out. She had never had a single behavioral or disciplinary issue. The truth was they didn’t like that I had the audacity to stand up to them. I called the MD State Dept of Education and was told I couldn’t file a complaint against them because they’re “church exempt.” Church exempt schools answer to no one but themselves. I called the archdiocese and spoke to Dr. D’Angelo, the superintendent, who did immediately apologize to me after I described how we had been treated over the years. He did not, however, do anything about it. Honestly, my daughter’s confidence had been destroyed by the bullying and the constant complaints from her teachers that she needed too much help in math. The official reason the school stated for kicking out my daughter was that they did not have the “resources” to support her. They never explained what those “resources” were though. Truth be told, it was me & my family that they wanted out. Good riddance, ICS.

We've had a wonderful experience with ICS! The mission statement is true about how the school develops students academically, spiritually, physically, and socially. ICS has prepared our kids well for life in general and high school in particular. Cursive handwriting, strong academics, a wonderful sense community, and dedicated teachers and staff - it's been a great decision for our family with very clear benefits. My son graduated from Immaculate Conception School a few years ago and my daughter will graduate next year. My husband and I agree that we couldn't have chosen a better place to send our children for their elementary education. We loved the former principal and are delighted with Mrs. Dinkle who is in her 2nd year as principal of ICS. The academics are challenging and prepared my son well for a private Catholic High School. The teachers are devoted to the students and are always available with questions and concerns! Excellent Catholic School!

So far so good. The School is oustanding and everyone is so helpful. Couldn't ask for a better place for school. New principle as been a real blessing.

The teachers, principal, pastor, staff and families of Immaculate Conception School are the reason that this is truly "the little school with the big heart". The academic structure and expectations have prepared my child well for high school and beyond. The sense of community within the school is comforting and inviting. I am certain that affording my children their Catholic education at ICS has been the best choice I could have made for them.

Immaculate Conception School has to be the worst place on earth. The academic standards are unacceptably low. In relative comparison to Cecil County Public Schools the academic standards are equal which is absolutly not why someone will pay tuition to go there. I am a parent of a student that was bullied and wished that he never attended I.C.S. There are exceptions to what I just said though. The math program was extrenuous on my son and was excellent. Language arts and computer classes were excellent. The bullying was absolutly astonishing and when brought to the appropriate authorities (principal) for two years straight, they expelled my son as they were "unable to stop the cases to my satisfaction." This was highly inappropriate as my son did not lash out back but was punished for being the victim. I am not saying that all of Immaculate Conception School is bad, but I am giving you a warning that it is not run in an orderly manner.

I love ICS. My two boys are both students here and I have been impressed with the academics and strong moral values.

This is an excellent school for my kids. They look forward to each school day with delight. The home works are just enough for them to review the day s lesson and prepare for the next day. The teachers are very dedicated and look after the well-being of the students. They give feedback, both positive and negative and are willing to work with the parents to improve on the negative aspects. The principal is very approachable and her concern for the students is very evident. The students are very respectful and the overall atmosphere in the school is very pleasant.
