Keenburg is a very good elementary school.

My children are 3rd generation students... me and their father not only attended but also graduated 8th grade from here... Also my daddy was a student back in late 40s to early 50s... and through the years education and student success and we'll being are top priority... So proud to say Keenburg Elementary is a family thing for us. Mrs Norma Carr is an excellent teacher and she demands the students best at all times while continuing to motivate them to reach that next level. Thank you to all the staff for setting such high educational standards and challenging our children to meet them. I also would like to say I am extremely interested in any parent participation I can take part in it. I am hoping my 4 yr old step son will be able to rise to the challenge and hopefully catch up to his age level and if possible even surpass the average student his age.

This school doesn't just make the students learn, it interacts with them. I know because I go there. The doors open at 7:00 a.m. and students are considered tardy at 8:00 a.m.

I was teaching at the Education Department of ETSU and several other colleges and universities Educational, Developmental, and Clinical Psychology. After we moved to this area just a few days when school started, it was not easy for my little son to adjust to all the changes. The principal Mr. Hartley made my son comfortable and welcome. He might not smile all the time but I observed him while interacting with other students with kindness and firm care. My son's teacher is a young lady, an ETSU honor graduate who is very professional loving with the children. Do not confuse the quality of education with the quality of the building. This is an old school with old values. Dr. William Nagy

I found the principal Mr. Hartley to be very uninformed, unfriendly and rude! I had talked to a Nurse and gave specific instructions as to what I wanted done with my child until I arrived (which was 8 mins later) and the opposite of what I asked was done, which could of caused additional medical concerns, I called Mr. Hartley after I talked to the Nurse who admittley ignored my request but thought it was no big deal, He had second hand info but thought he had enough of the story to talk over me and when I tried to get a word in he told me to be quiet! He used word play to justify what had happened, needless to say future problems will be fowarded to superintendent of schools.

I have had problems with this schools since day one. My son was injured by another student and the principle did not contact me and when I contacted him he said he did feel like it was an issue that needed to be addressed. My son was stabbed with a pen....that's a big deal. Mr. Hyder does not send grades home so I never really know what my sons grade is until it is too late. I don't see how that is even acceptable! I hope I cant get my son in T A Dugger next year!
