All three of my kids went here. We went through a couple of principals about 5 years ago who were sub-par. We now have much better leadership and he strives to keep class sizes down (my daughter has 22 students in her 4th grade class). This is a small school in a great community where learning is placed higher than social status. The PTA is great and provides a wonderful art docent program.

Mountain View is a wonderful, small school located in a coveted, quasi-rural community. The principal is kind, supportive, and highly professional. Wonderful teachers, involved parents, a strong PTA, good test scores, respectful students, and a high participation rate in extracurricular events are some of the great features of this school community. The only negative is that the area is growing, and the population increase is having a direct impact on class sizes, which top 30 students in many grade levels. Mountain View is an older building, and can't expand much further due to local building codes. The district is being proactive in planning for the reconfiguration of boundary lines and the number of grades in each school. This will hopefully help to offset some of the growth, but it is part of a 2-3 year plan.

I thought I'd provide an updated review. The previous reviews were Done prior to the closing of Hilltop Elementary, those kids had to go somewhere! The school is small with an average of 1 teacher per grade (no switching classes to solve conflict) my sons 2nd grade grade class had 32 students. There is basically no support or follow through, i was consistently made aware of inconsistencies and your children are punished with loss of gym and recess if they don't get work done on time. It's been a nightmare!

My son just started kindergarten & within hes 1st week there.. The principal decided to allow work to be done to the roof while the kids were there! My son inhaled the fumes & came home very ill w/headaches, dizziness & vomitting. The principal would not allow the childrent to go home but she decided to go home early friday cause she felt sick!! Im discusted at their lack of commitment. A letter was never sent to the parents to inform them of the work being done. I trusted this school with the safety of my child. Im angry & I will be taking this up w/the health dept.
