I am a current student of TDS, I moved to TDS in fourth grade from a near by public school. At first I was very far behind the curriculum, but with the help of amazing teachers I was able to get back on track and get into more advanced classes. The teachers try very hard to help students, and update parents with alerts(homework, upcoming events, and tests) class size:The class sizes being small has advantages and disadvantages. I feel everyone in the grade is close and friendly. Although sometimes I do feel limited. Sports teams aren't always the best, their usually hit or miss. Although every sports team I've been on Ive had a blast and learned many skills.TDS is a great option, I feel it is preparing me well for high school next year.

Triangle Day School has far exceeded our expectations in every way. We were drawn to the school for its focus on academic excellence and core values in a welcoming, unpretentious community. Because of the excellent faculty and small environment, we believe our children are truly known. They are celebrated for their unique strengths and appropriately challenged. We have seen growth in skills, confidence, and integrity throughout their time at the school. The headmaster is a gifted leader; and all faculty and staff generally communicate very well, sharing information and insights into decision making that help us feel like partners in our children's edcuation.

TDS is an exceptional and welcoming school. The faculty are committed and offer the right balance of challenge and support. The school leadership inspires confidence and has done a wonderful job during the pandemic. Socially, the school is also very nurturing and both of my children have felt included and enthusiastic in their school environment. I love that they offer a class called “reflections” that focuses on social emotional aspects of life and coping with emotions. They have also introduced a DEI group to ensure that the school increases diversity in all aspects. I would highly recommend TDS!

My child has attended both lower school and middle school at TDS, and we have always been very happy with the environment and the education. There is a kindness that permeates the school that was never present in any of the schools I attended growing up. It is small enough that the teachers know their students well, and we have always found them to be responsive when we had concerns.

In short, I very much like this school, its teachers, and its Headmaster. I have 21 years of experience in education, both public and private, both as a teacher and an administrator, and I am convinced and very proud that my two grandchildren are receiving a VERY fine education.

Triangle Day School is amazing. I have two children at the school and we have been a family at the school for many years. It is an extremely supportive environment. The teachers are incredible and utilize a very thoughtful approach to teaching every child. They excel at understanding and seeing every child. The community of families at the school is wonderful and there is a feeling of warmth and kindness that you feel the minute you step foot in the school.

My daughters have been at TDS for over 6 years now, and they have had wonderful experiences. Both girls are very different and have different learning styles, and both have still been challenged and supported where appropriate. We initially chose TDS due to the small class size and teacher:student ratio, the emphasis on character education in a secular environment, and the welcoming "community" feel that we experienced from our very first visit. Over time, our affection for TDS has only grown, and in recent years I have been very impressed with the school's efforts in the areas of diversity and inclusion. Our family loves TDS, and we would highly recommend it!

My experience is/was that the process to get in is inappropriate. I was trying to get my child into the best school possible but the selection process, is very selective and privileged. I assume this is why the ratio is the way it is. But I tried even after I saw the ration thinking it was the best school for him academically. Privileged kids would probably definitely benefit. Surely they would be accepted.

Head of school allows some teachers to teach their own personal agenda to very young children in total disregard to the parents religious or political views. School needs to concentrate of teaching classes such as English, math, arts, etc instead of their personal views. They teach to be tolerant but in fact they're intolerant themselves to other views besides their own. The concerns mentioned above have no educational value at any school much less a private school but the post about who has the fattest checkbook is vey true at this school. Stay neutral on your views TDS and let the kids be kids!

The Lower school has some positives but it really depends on the year/grade as some cohorts have a good mix and others do not. The school is hungry for money so they often accept problem kids from other schools to the detriment of the current students. The middle school has about 50 children in total, most of which are unhappy to still be there. My child is begging me not to make them go here for middle school. There are frequently not enough kids to make a full sports team which is unfortunate for the kids who are interested. If you are considering this school you should ask a lot of questions and fact check information with others.

10 out of 10! This school does an amazing job with low teacher to student rations. it is a kind, and caring environment where kids can grow and learn.

Below average. This is a very small school with very limited resources. The administration is very one sided. As a parent there are better resources and schools that teach kids with a variety of methods that does not allow bullying to be tolarated.

TDS is community! From the front desk staff, the classroom, and the administration, everybody works together to provide the support that is needed. I appreciate the school's approach for developing a culture of self-advocacy.

The Triangle Day School community is warm and welcoming. The teachers are caring while challenging the students to be their best academically and socially. Our children enjoy going to school every day!

Average. I was underwhelmed by the middle school teachers, the resources, and the facilities

We have been members of the TDS community for three years and can honestly say that we love this school. The faculty and administration know each student by name and all of the students know one other. Low teacher-student ratios mean that your child doesn't get lost in the mix, socially or academically, and the teachers are attuned to your child. The head of school is quite popular with both parents and kids and makes a point of spending time in the lower school classrooms each week. The assistant head of school and counselor are fabulous and their doors are always open. A previous reviewer used the word "nurturing" for the school's environment and I wholeheartedly agree. I also believe this same reviewer hit the nail on the head re a couple of the negative comments being around one student's experience. All comments here on this thread deserve to be heard. That said, as someone who knows the circumstances surrounding that experience (but who was not directly involved), I will mention that the word "bullying" is an easy and powerful label, and one which I don't believe accurately represents the situation. (Interestingly, this same family posted rave reviews about the school on two other websites a year earlier.) While I can't speak directly to the relationship between individual faculty members and the head of school, I can say with certainty that I have gotten to know many of the teachers through my volunteer work at the school and none have ever expressed dissatisfaction to me about him. Also, I think it is important to keep in mind that turnover doesn't necessarily equate with unhappiness. Perhaps that is true for some but life happens -- spouses get an out-of-town job offer; an infant requires more at-home care; people want to spend more time with their growing families and lessen their considerable commutes. All of these are instances which I know have occurred. The school is growing and there are bound to be bumps in the road. Big picture-wise, though, I have complete faith that the current administration puts my child and his education first.

This school has changed a lot under the current leadership. The teachers consider the headmaster a dictator and complain a lot to the parents. There is a lot of staff turnover. Some of the teachers are excellent but even they are unhappy so it is not clear how long they will stay. This is such a shame because this school wasn't like this when my older child went through. The middle school children and parents are so neglected they all want out.

I do not recognize the school as described in the negative reviews on this site which I believe all stem from one student's experience. While I am not privy to those details I can reflect on our child's experience. Our child has flourished at Triangle Day School. The staff and administration all know him by name and are invested in his development both academically and as a person. Its feeling of community is a throw back to my own youth in a small town elementary school and I feel fortunate my son is able to experience such a nurturing environment in today's world. My best advice is for those interested in an outstanding school for their children to take the time to speak with a variety of TDS community members to learn more.

We are so happy that we made the decision to send our son to TDS. He has grown so much socially and academically in the past 2 years. His teachers brought to our attention some issues he was having academically last year, and they worked with us as we determined the cause. We are so grateful to them for their time and patience. He's back on track now and flourishing.I've spent a lot of time volunteering at the school this year, and I've seen firsthand how well the teachers manage their classrooms and how kind and patient they are with the children. I've also seen how kind and caring the children are with each other and how accepting they are of any differences they might have (i.e. Eye patches, hearing aid). I can't say enough positive things about this school. When I drop our son off in the morning, it's such a great feeling to know that he's happy, cared for, and challenged.
