Excellent school. My child came here from Challenger and is growing and loving it. We love the teachers who are easy to interact with and very responsive with any questions. The environment is safe and every teacher and worker at the school truly cares. We are lucky to be there! My child is waiting to go to school every morning and is so excited to learn.

With the exception of a few long time teachers, the rest of the school is a complete waste of money. They convince everyone that they are getting a superior education with no verifiable facts to back that up. Actually, it's a lie. My kids were all behind in both math and science when we finally switched to public schools and that was after they were in "accelerated" classes at sjb. The "Catholic" in the school promptly ends after elementary when kids learn that winning, cheating, and appearances are all more important than those Catholic values they love to emphasize, only when it suits them. The teachers are truly incompetent and because of the low pay and atmosphere, any qualified educators choose to stay away.

Constantly impressed with the teachers, staff and the leadership at this school. Especially the Principal Mr. Reeder. My kids loved and continue to love their school and community experience.

Very happy with all aspects of St. John the Baptist Middle School. Excellent administration, staff, and academics.

Amazing. Middle school is a tough time for many kids as they are trying how to standout and fit in at the same time. The opportunities for extracurriculars and the ability for kids to find their fit is unparalleled.

This has been a great school for my daughter. The principal is excellent.

My children went into the public schools after a decade of education in the St. John Schools. They were all BEHIND and two of them needed outside tutoring to catch up to their public school peers. The emphasis is supposed to be on the whole child, but unless you work at the school, your child will be passed up for all the special honors the school likes to give. The school does not address issues such as bullying, theft and substance abuse in the school. You should take a look into the schools surrounding before making your decision. This school is a waste of money.

The level of academic education in the classrooms is so-so, but the students are certainly getting an education in drugs and sex.

Not a caring environment. Substance in the classroom, like teaching the important things like Math, Science, and Language Arts, is overlooked, based on the school's need to offer more and more bells and whistles. Students behavior is inappropriate, based on their ages. I would much rather take my kids to a more welcoming, academically based environment. Sports are not THAT important.

Sadly, this could be a much better school but it is not run well. Nice parents, good kids... but administration cuts corners to hire the cheapest teachers who have little to no experience. "Rookie training ground" comes to mind. Ask how many teachers have experience and are certified - you'll be shocked. Yes, there are a few veteran teachers there, too, but it is a coincidence. Experience is simply not valued at this establishment. It's a top-down, heavy handed approach to administration. If you ask questions, you will be out of there. Heavy turnover.

If there was a better option for middle school I would have skipped SJB. The elementary school is wonderful w/ an exceptional principal and caring teachers from our experience. The middle school has many exceptional teachers that bring out the best in your child, particularly the honors teachers. Unfortunately there r also a few that are inexperienced and a couple that have just lost their desire. That is normal for all schools. The good teachers @ SJB middle outweigh the bad. The administration tho is the worst of all 3 schools. It is rare to hear a child being praised for good work or great accomplishments but normal to hear of students getting punished or reprimanded. The VP criticizes students often and thinks it is funny. She is a very good honors math teacher though. Ideally, she would serve our students better if she stayed a teacher and not a VP. The Principal unfortunately is not much better and does nothing to boost morale of the school. It doesn't seem there is a lot of respect for him from the talented teachers either. Academically, SJB middle is good but unfortunately the morale is dismal due to the principal and vp. It's unfortunate.

Very entitled community, they value money, and sports ability, nothing more. Many teachers lack experience, there are many fresh out of college. The math program at the Elementary school is simply AWFUL (everyday mathematics) and the middle and high schools use a completely different program. Worse yet the Elementary, Middle and High School principals are all related, so there's no chance anything will change until one or all of them moves on.

We have only attended from PreK4 and have just started Kindergarten. The teachers seem nice and I love that my student has multiple special classes (PE twice a week, art, music, Spanish, library, etc.) The quality of the food is the complete opposite. Although we are not Catholic, they do an outstanding job of creating a community and parent involvement (they require 25 hours each academic year).

The academics are quite good. The culture is unfortunately very elitist. Teacher's children get priority in almost everything, but especially athletics. Your child may well get an excellent education but good luck outside of class.

I attend the school and I like it very much! The kids and staff are kind and the education is great! It may be considered "hard" but you will end the year learning SO much more. I definitely recomend this school!! I have seen no problem with bullying or "dinsengaged principals".

We moved our son from another private school, in Sandy 3 years ago. This has proven to be the right move. Our son is excelling. His self esteem has grown leaps and bounds. I belive due to the academic, social and spiritual enviornment. I see diversity, zero tolerance for bad behavior. We are not Catholic, but the teaching of being a true christian and being tolerant and loving to all has allowed him to grow in his studies. Parental involvemt is huge here. The kids are taught to work hard for what you get. I have not seen any entitlement attitude here. Just respectful, loving, hard working students and educators. The sports are gravy. Making the school a true family. I expect my child will have great memories of his school years. I recommend this school to any parent willing to be involved and expecting a well rounded education. They seem to graduate ready for the real world!
