Wondering why the kids aren't getting any better with reading. Well because library time is now play time with no reading time during library. I asked the kids why aren't they reading during library. They explained library time is now socializing time instead of reading time . That's just great ! Public schools are failing our children.

Garrison elementary is the most warm, kind and welcoming community that you could hope for. Not only is it an incredible academic environment where the children feel they have the freedom to explore and learn the way children should, but the educators and administrators are the most wonderful people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Despite attacks on public schools, do your research and you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Garrison has the potential to be a great school -caring teachers, supportive parents, upgraded facilities. It's not there yet, but feel it could be with a few tweaks. There is a lack of engagement bringing parents into the school to see what kids are doing. We are invited into Garrison once a year to meet their teacher and see the classroom. Beyond that there is nothing which gives parents the opportunity to see what kids are working on in the classroom and beyond. Yes, I know there is PTA and classroom volunteering, but for those of us who work regular jobs this can be difficult. Some suggestions - Holiday concert. Art show. Read Aloud. Really ANY activity which brings together the community of parents and kids and shows us what they are working on. Otherwise we feel locked out, quite literally, which bring me to my next point. Yes, I know we live in a new era of safety. I get it and by no means expect to walk right into a school. However, the front office staff can be downright confrontational and rude when you arrive at the school. I have experienced and witnesses this on numerous times where visitors are treated in such a crass matter that it leaves my head shaking. Smile. Be polite. Don't assume the worst from people. Very basic civility can go a long way leaving a good impression with parents.I am optimistic that with the right focus by leadership Garrison can become a great school.

Very positive. The teacher/ student ratio is great and the administration seems very committed to running an excellent school. The school has just been fully renovated and the school operated fairly smoothly throughout the whole process.

This is a really great school. Probably the best school in the entire Dover district. The staff is very caring and professional. The curriculum is way above average. Lots of after-school activities. And with all the new construction finishing this year this school should shine. Our son really likes it and feels very comfortable there. We are moving and we definitely will miss this great school.

My sons have enjoyed the talented and supportive staff at GES. There are numerous opportunities for student enrichment and community involvement. I am extremely impressed by the way they have handled the massive renovation with flexibility and consideration for student needs.

I twins that started in Kidergarten here this fall. They have adjusted well and I feel very welcome at the school. As a teacher for another district I am pretty critical about curriculum and programming. Overall my wife and I have been very satisitified!
