At STRIVE Prep-Lake, we create a safe and joyful environment for students to receive a high quality education. We believe it is vital to support each family to ensure their student is successful and happy during their middle school experience. This is a great school. The teachers and other staff really care about the students. They want to make sure the students succeed! They are very hands on with the students and make them feel comfortable. My daughter really loves this school and the staff. I would definitely recommend this school!!

This school is unrealistic. They pressure the students and teachers to be absolutely perfect. Teachers are expected to have 100% compliant students 100% of the time. This is unrealistic since the students are adolescents and many have stuff going on in their lives that may distract them at times. This school does not nurture students or teachers; rather, it creates a stressful environment for both the students and the teachers. Students are pushed beyond their academic level and never receive the "catch up" they really need.

I have been sending my son's to this school for the last three years. The last two years have been really hard on the students since Rebecca Utton started as principle of the school. She talks down to the students and the parents. One of my son's went on to a public school this year and has not been depressed as he was when attending strive prep lake. He is acting like a man not a two year old. If you treat them like young adults instead of children they will act like adults. She has a policy that students leave campus as soon as school lets out if you are running late which happens on occasion it is putting you child at risk making them stand across the street in the park. Today was picture day and she demands that your student has their picture done with their uniform on and cannot change into a nice shirt during their pictures this is not right I do not want a picture of my child in their uniform. They really need to think how her actions are affecting the students and the parents. Rebecca Utton is not a good principle and she does not care about the students or the parents. She nit picks everything they do and think which is wrong.

The academics are poorly taught. It is review paper after review paper. Students learn the same things in 6th as in 8th. Classes are boring at times. Yet the students are also quite disruptive during class. The teachers do nothing to keep class moving and in balance. Only I do appreciate the teachers working one on one with students to grow in their education. Other than some hospitality, the school is not great. Instead of taking time to work with students during school, when they actually want to and know they need to do work, a 2 hour holding of students happens weekly. Insanity. Students have lives at home too. And the homework is another issue. Students sometimes don't know homework. And I know homework is a great tool, but less is more. The hours spent doing homework is horrible. As word from a student going, I would not recommend.
