This school has low ratings and I just don't understand why. This school is outstanding. My daughter who is in middle school this year is far above the other kids who came from other elementary schools and my youngest who was in the SSN department has amazing support. Ma y of the teachers have become close friends as well. This school supports in everyway possible and then some. The education is above par and the teachers really care. We live in the apartments close by, which is not the best neighborhood, but stayed for seven years only because of this school. I highly recommend it.

Poor- Time wasted and opportunities lost. Do not send your children here until administration changes.

My son has attended this school for two years and is on an IEP for learning disabilities. He has made virtually zero progress and we receive hardly any communication as to what we should be doing at home to support his growth. They are severely underfunded and the teachers all seem at the end of their ropes.

My family and I are new to the thornton area and of course my child was very nervous while starting new at the end of the school. One day we were having a rough morning and were running late, I took her in signed her in for the day and was getting ready to walk her to class, halfway down the hall the front office clerks yelled down the hall ran up to me and told me I could nit walk my daughter to class! 'I was like woa wait, what!? Im her mother , then she says well, u need SOME IDENTIFICATION , I WAS LIKE I CAN WALK MY DAUGHTER TO HER CLASSROOM IAM HER PARENT AND THATS WHAT PARENTS DO. GOSH EVERYTHING ELSE IS OK. THANKS

I have 3 sons who attend North Star Elementary. Unfortunately one of my boys suffers from seperation anxiety. The staff here has gone ABOVE and BEYOND to help us feel safe and comfortable. Everyone is extremely understanding, helpful and friendly. My other two sons are excelling in leaps and bounds. I am so thankful that my boys go to this school. I can't thank the staff enough for all they have done for my family. North Star has a strong principal/school leadership.

Very disappointed with the school. So so glad that my child will not be attending this school next year! I wish I could have rated them on no stars. I think the principle is too involved and should stay out of certain situations. Oh and if your child has a reading issue and you ask for extra books to work with them at home, forget it. You will be ignored by the teacher and the principle will belittle you and tell you that you have no clue how to teach your child how to read! If you have a choice where to send your child, don't choose this school! You will just be frustrated with it every day!
