I have two students at this school and two younger students who will eventually be attending high school. This is one of the worst schools any of my children (or I ) have attended. One teacher refuses to speak to the parents, not just my students, but others as well. I have had four parent teacher meetings scheduled where this teacher refused to attend. Even after the school officials called him to the office for our meeting, he would not come. The officials simply said, "we can't make a teacher talk to the parents". To this day I have yet to meet the teacher or even speak to him over the phone or through email. Another instance is that I have a student with a learning disability. My student does not receive the resources promised because the school "doesn't have time to deal with it". The most recent issue is where an adult who works for the school lied when they reported an incident, was proven that they lied, but the school will "back our employees whether right or wrong against students and parents" and not allow my student to return until they apologize for something that never happened. The bathroom doors are locked most of the time and students are not "allowed" to leave the school in search for a restroom. The only way they are allowed to use the restroom is if they have a doctor's note that says so. If they try to leave the school, the guards lock the gates and surround the student. The worst part about this school is that they forgot these students are minors. They treat them like adults in prison They are charging them fees for ridiculous things. One being the "right to park" in their parking lot, the "right to eat lunch", mandatory in school carnivals, and the list goes on. If I had the choice, I would not send my kids to this school. Much of the staff set the students up for failure any way they can.

This school is completely terrible how can a school with the lowest ranking in mathematics still not do a thing about changing techniques with students for them to do better but instead making learning more difficult and almost impossible for students to have a good enough understanding of the material to confidently get good test scores and pass exams also faculty are responsible as well for the failure of students not the student themselves which includes some teachers and administrators as well as the “late pass” policy which just makes students miss class longer than just letting them go as well as giving students lunch detentions for being late when their bus arrived late or they came to school late and get caught in their way to class

My son attended this school in 9th, 10th and part of 11th. He hated it so much he wanted to quit and get his GED. I refused and tried to talk to his guidance counselor for support and ideas to help him. Her exact words "If he wants to quit, let him quit." Really?? Once we moved and he started school at University High, his grades improved tremendously, his guidance counselor was amazing...and he graduated!!

Take any previous positive comments posted with a grain of salt. Just go visit the school during an average school day and you ll understand. This is a subpar school that lacks any structure or discipline. Students do whatever they want because teachers and administrators have no control. My daughter will no longer be attending Pine Ridge, as her freshman year was the worst of all her schooling. She was bullied repeatedly, which was met with apathy from the deans office. This school is exactly what s wrong with the education system. It serves as a babysitting service and a poor one at that. The apparent new B school grade is not accurate. It is sad that I live down the street from the school but will have to drive my child half hour away every morning to go to a respectable school.

This will be my 4th and final year as a Pine Ridge High School panther, and I must say that each year this school, and the staff have done nothing but improve. The teachers are more into making the students interested in learning and being the best they can be. I've only attended Pine Ridge, so I cannot say (from personal experience) that any school is below us or that we're above others, but I can say that are students are more willing to learn, and recieve some of the best educations that can be provided by this collection of amazing, hardworking and creative teachers, administrators, principals and even campus advisors.

Pine Ridge has hardworking teachers and students. It is too bad that those who don't value an education get the attention. There have been many students who have excelled in sports, theatre, FFA, and academics, but most people outside the school talk about the students who disrupt and don't care. Pine Ridge is like all high schools - it has its problems - but it is a good school for most of its students who care!

I just graduated in 2013 and I have to say this school is amazing. Some people might say "that school is where the thugs are Deltona high is better". Okay ALL highschools have problems. All of them. They all have trouble makers, thugs, whatever! It depends who you hang out with. If you hang out with positive people (people who don't smoke, they care about their grades) well then your gonna think this is an awesome school. Someone might bring up "well pine ridge had 9 fights in one day and one person punched a cop". You don't think there's been worse at other schools? And btw, that carnival was open to EVERYONE. It wasn't even students who got arrested. So please, if your going to hate on a school, at least do your research. This school is amazing.

There is virtually no discipline at this school whatsoever; the inmates run the asylum. The teachers are frustrated but this is purely an administration policy, teachers would like to see a stiffening of discipline but the adminstration is afraid to tighten the screws because they're afraid of conflict with parents and don't want to look bad to the county office. the excuse is "because we don't want to take away from the students academics". These kids aren't in class anyway...there are 100 or more kids roaming the campus at any one time. The parking lot is an absolute free-for-all...kids coming and going anytime they wish. The administration hides in their offices except on class change, when they will huddle together in little groups in the courtyard so it looks like they're doing something. I would think less than 25% of the kids could point out the Principal in a line-up of 4-5 people. So PR has been a "D" school forever and will likely remain a "D" school until somone comes in with the courage do fix it.
