such a wonderful school for me and my sons Graham and Boden.

My oldest son is in first grade at rashi and we could not be happier with the school! When looking for the best place to send him as a kindergartner we looked into several local day schools. Rashi was hands down the best choice for him and our family. Even in the midst of covid, rashi and my sons teachers have gone above and beyond to make the school feel as amazing as it did pre-Covid. We love the school so much we’ll be hopefully sending our soon to be kindergartner next year as well!

I am the parent of three Rashi students - one recent graduate, one middle schooler, and one elementary schooler. I have been incredibly impressed with Rashi across the board for my children. One of Rashi’s strengths is the amount of attention they are able to devote to each student - Rashi students are known by their teachers and well supported both academically and socially. My children have become confident learners, productive members of the community and are learning the critical thinking skills necessary for high school and beyond. Rashi is providing a nurturing, joyful, and safe environment for my kids to grow as students. The academic curriculum is rigorous but the approach is interwoven with the Jewish values of justice, community, and respect. Rashi’s focus on community service and social justice is another strength of the school. My kids have loved the opportunities for multigenerational programming with Newbridge on the Charles, plus there are many opportunities for community service throughout the year. Starting in Middle School, kids have the opportunity to join Student Government and take leadership roles throughout the school. The middle school years at Rashi are a particular strength of the school - not only are the academics strong, the athletic teams are open to all students, and the graduates are ready for success in high school. Rashi has a history of stellar high school admissions and supports the students (and parents) very well with finding the best high school (whether that be private or aiding in the decision to go to public school). Rashi is an amazing school and also a warm and diverse community for families.

Rashi combines excellent academics, differentiated learning, and values-based, whole-child character development all at once in a seamlessly integrated school day. My children have learned who they are and what they stand for. They have gained confidence in their personal and academic strengths and have learned how to navigate towards success in areas of greater challenge. The school staff and administration are all partners in education and know my children well. We could feel luckier to send our children to The Rashi School.

As noted by a previous reviewer, if you have a child who is academically advanced (or who struggles) this is not the school for you. For the two years that my son was at Rashi he was chronically under-challenged. Despite our repeatedly raising this, and providing third party psychometric testing indicating giftedness along with specific and actionable in-classroom strategies, the school was unwilling to truly discuss or implement any of it. (In contrast the Newton pubic schools had 4 weeks in, implemented strategies that in 2 years, Rashi refused to even consider, and my son is thriving.) Surprisingly for a private school there is a culture of "this is the way we've always done it" and a lack of openness to creative problem solving that truly helps to meet the children's needs. This applies both to learning difficulties/differences and giftedness. Promises of differentiation are in fact not borne out by the reality. We wanted to love the school and were strongly encouraged by the values-oriented and nurturing aspects of it. However, the school failed in it's core reason for being: providing an education. Ultimately it provided low value to our family. There were many disaffected families the same year that we left, which is such a pity as individually the teachers are extremely dedicated, lovely and well-meaning.

We have two children enrolled and one that just finished. We pulled our oldest out of public middle school which was failing its mission and enrolled her at Rashi where she thrived academically and socially. Our other two children are thriving here. Rashi has a values oriented culture that permeates every setting at the school whether it be the classroom, the lunchroom, a field trip or the athletic field. Overall we have been pleased with teacher quality and the high attention to detail for each of our kids learning styles. We are glad to be a part of this community as parents.

The children at Rashi feel that they are part of a warm community of staff who really care about their emotional and social growth. Detailed attention is given to prevent bullying and social responsibility. This is illustrated by the school's social justice program, which gives kids opportunity to help causes and to learn how to become active part of society and role models for a better world. We strongly feel that Rashi is helping us as parents by providing our children with an integrated education in which they are becoming individuals with strong Jewish values while receiving important social skills and necessary intellectual development in a warm, nurturing environment.

We chose Rashi over a high performing public school system and a top private school. The academics are outstanding and child-centered balancing rigor and fun. The sense of community is palpable. Students support and appreciate each other as individuals quite unique, especially in middle school. The faculty love teaching in a culture that fosters collaboration, professional growth, and innovation. Our kids feel an integral part of the Jewish "story". Shaped by our own, Jewish values, they are becoming young woman of great character. So used to being heard by the adults at the school, they feel confident in their skins, empowered to advocate for themselves and others, and assured of their own voices. They are becoming grounded, confident, young women with strong foundational academic skills. My eldest is now a junior at a top private school and has consistently earned high honors, (while easily integrating socially and taking leadership roles). Rashi has served all three of my kids well, despite the significant differences between their personalities, learning styles, and temperaments.

The school is a good place for students who would not survive socially at public school. The grades are too small making every interaction magnified. Too much staff with too little to do but examine every social exchange. The school is fine for those who like to be coddled. It is great for k-2. After that, the students need to broaden their horizons.

As we searched for a school to support our two children s unique needs, we found many schools that provided either a nurturing environment or a challenging academic curriculum. In following its core Jewish values, The Rashi School was the only school we found that could do both. The supportive kehillah (community) coupled with an individual approach to limud (learning) has enabled each of our children to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. We feel lucky to have found The Rashi School.

Our twins entered first grade this year, their first year with you, and it has been seamless. Our experience with Rashi has renewed our faith in a sound, private school education. The teachers and administrators welcomed us with open and warm arms and we are excited for our future here. We know our children are loved for their individuality and we know our family found the perfect spot at Rashi. Rashi strikes the perfect balance between a nurturing and academically rigorous environment. Each teacher is keenly tuned into each student. It is remarkable.

Rashi is an excellent school. Our daughter has been here since kindergarten (now in 6th grade) and we are very satisfied with the quality of her education, excellent teachers, and great facilities. She has been very happy here and has many wonderful friendships among her peers. The environment is warm and nurturing, and the individualized and creative approach to learning has worked well for our child. We highly recommend this school.

As noted in another review, the quality of instruction and morale continue to deteriorate while the administration seems solely focused on wooing wealthy parents and collecting tuition. Social services transformed into a profit center where parents are required to purchase school-directed services separately. Bottom line: pretty new facility and some good staff but overall not a value proposition. A particularly poor choice now for parents looking for a nuturing environment, probably better for the (wealthy) image conscious.

I have had 3 children go through Rashi. The Staff and the education was excellent. The staff gets to know each child as an individual and helps them be independent, strong thinkers and learners. They foster curiosity. My kids are able to advocate for themselves and learned to see teachers as partners , not the enemy. They love learning because of the school.
