I cannot believe this school has such a low Great Schools rating - the teachers and staff are incredible, the building is new and beautiful, and the children (mine and others!) are flourishing both academically and socially. There is everything you want here - strong academics, diversity, a host of specialty classes, after-school programming, special events, and a strong community. When I asked my child's first grade teacher what she needs to to help her day-to-day she said that the school provides absolutely everything to her. I can't say enough good things about the Avery School.

We recently moved to the area and had some concerns after seeing the ratings for the Avery on various websites. Now we're a year in and couldn't be happier. Our son's first-grade teacher is wonderful, the administration is responsive, the building is brand new, and the school community is great. We feel very fortunate; it's a hidden gem.

Teachers and school administration are dedicated to the students. School building is outdated, but a new school will be completed in 2013
