I’m not happy at our whole experience at this school. My daughter is on a 504 and the accommodations aren’t followed. In addition, I think the school tests better than the kids actually learn. My child was recently given an assignment to write a research paper without actually knowing how to organize writing. I think there needs to be more effort towards education as a whole and not just test scores.

Terrible staff, terrible Principal, poor leadership and poor communication. Not good for ESE students, they don’t have a good understanding and some teachers do not have the certifications. BE CAREFUL and always be prepared for any situation.

My 3 youngest attend DeBary and my oldest 2 went to elementary in Seminole County. We have had an amazing experience at DeBary Elementary. The teachers are enthusiastic and caring, the academic standards are high, and the culture and environment is fair, friendly and fun. We have been very happy at this school!

I'm an 8th grader in middle school, and from 1-5th grade, I attended this school. Some teachers were nice, but overall, the school is not caring at all and low quality.

I am a student that went here from kindergarten-4th grade. I gotta say I thought it was a good school, but now that I’m going to middle school. I now realize that it was not. The administration was horrible. The principal and vice principal were rude and put on a mask around parents. They were very strict about dress code and behavior. The guidance counselor was especially awful. She thought it was a good idea to show us boring videos and talk to us during lunch. Our backs were faced towards the spot she talked too. So when she started talking, we had to turn around and face her. We weren’t allowed to eat while turned around so we would only have about 10-15 minutes to eat. Also the school had the teachers grade in an awful and hard way. It was very hard. Then we took tests every Friday. Actually we took tests every day there. “Good job on your last test! Now take this one.” Also we had Pe 3 times a week, every week. They would also give us Christmas break and spring break homework. Who does that? I loved my teachers themselves, but the other staff I could not take. Through my mother, who was a teacher there, I know there is a very toxic and disciplined environment for the teachers. All the school cared about was being the top, and the best at all times. When they saw something that might bring their scores down they called discipline meetings for the teachers. The often scolded them, and raised their voices tremendously at teachers. Do you really want people who treat their teachers and staff like that to be in charge of your child 7 hours a day? My new school was so much more relaxed and debary is just not the right fit for most children.

I would rate the school 5 star. Their pta put on the best parties for the kids. They allowed my twins to be safety patrols in 5th grade and they got to raise money to go to Universal Studios and that was great memories for them. The best teachers in my opinion is Mrs. Torres, Mrs. Rivera, Mrs. Austin and Mrs. Schicker. They all put a lot of energy into my kids learning and I appreciated that alot. My twins are now honor students and excelling in academics. Principal is great at this school as well! Thank you DeBary Elementary!

My daughter has attended this school since kindergarten, she is now in 4th grade. Every year has been great! I love the teachers she has had, and the staff is wonderful. She has struggled, since the beginning, with reading. Because of the extra help she has gotten through the school she is now on 5th grade reading level! So proud of her and so thankful to the teachers there. I'll be sad that next year will be her last year at Debary Elementary.

I had a DCF case 2 years ago which I wasn't allowed to pick up my daughter from school at the time the case has been closed for two years I did everything I was supposed to do but you also won't let me pick up my daughter because the court never sent you anything I tried to call the court and the judge they don't have anything to give me because I haven't even been on a docket for over 2 years so I don't know what am I supposed to do to be able to get my daughter again when I'v done what I'm supposed to do. On top of the fact that when I did come in there after I had been cleaning and everything I was supposed to do because of the fact the staff knew what I had done and been through I was getting dirty looks and people are being rude to me and were judging me and that's not right I did wrong things and I messed up in my life but I change everything and I better myself and I shouldn't be judged on my past

It's been a long time since I attended this school (10 years) so I don't know how accurate my review will be. My personal experience at the school was horrible 10 years ago. If you're a normal kid, you'll be fine, but if you have any other sort of issues, they don't know how to deal with it. It's like they freak out because the kid isn't 'normal' and throw them out the window or something. Like I said, I don't know how it is now, but if it's the same as 10 years ago, I wouldn't recommend it.

People in charge have much to learn about how to treat children. A little bit of compassion goes a long way.

Wonderful school, great PTA and aftercare program. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves. The principal is very involved.
