This is a fantastic school! I would highly recommend families to check this school out. They have had tremendous growth this year! If you are looking for a high quality christian school, check this place out!

I was a student at LKNC for two years and my opinion of it isn’t the greatest. First, the teachers didn’t have the best background in what they were teaching. In one of my classes we were made to read a whole book aloud in class, and were not allowed to take it home. This was supposed to be novel studies but there was no project, no quizzes, and we didn’t even talk about the book. The students could get away with anything at school. If a student did something wrong the most the teacher would do is talk to them. I had a friend who got bullied but the teachers didn’t do anything. Some students made racist comments and the teachers didn’t do anything. A girl in my class cheated during the state testing. We told the teacher, but she didn’t get in trouble. The choices for the electives were very disappointing - my choices were to help with the play, or Life Skills. I chose to help with the play’s scenery and costumes, but we mostly just sat around. I’m glad I’m not going back next year.

Our children attended LKNC for two years and were very disappointed. Our kids had three main teachers. After 2022-23, the teachers left or weren’t asked back. This school year ('23-'24), two of the teachers left after 1st semester. The third teacher left with just 4 weeks left of school. The teachers either didn’t have degrees in education, or if they did, they didn’t have backgrounds in the subjects they were teaching. There was a lack of discipline in multiple classes. Second semester, bad theology was presented, including trying to scare the students into saying the “salvation prayer” by telling them they could get into a car accident on the way home, die, and go to hell. We were told by administration that it had been handled, but scary language about hell was used on at least two occasions afterwards. Bullying also occurred within one of the grades and did not change, even after issues were brought up with administration. Neither of our children wanted to return to the school, so we let the school know they would be attending elsewhere. Please be aware: in addition to losing the re-enrollment deposit that is paid during the school year to hold the student’s spot for the following year, the school also charges a $500 “withdrawal fee.” This is in the school handbook, but the language isn’t clear that this applies even between school years, so many parents who told the school after the school year ended that their students weren’t returning were surprised by this extra (unnecessary) charge.

My children started at Lake Norman Christian after Covid. My oldest child had been public school and had and IEP I was worried it might be too challenging for him. But it ended up being the best thing I could have done for my kids!! He is flourishing in the smaller class sizes. The teachers there want to see your child succeed they are caring and nurturing, He’s now staring his junior year in honors classes and on the A/B honor roll. My youngest started there in 1st grade and has loved everything about school. They’re greeted every morning with big smiles and that’s just how they leave. Lake Norman Christian school has been a blessing to our family. From the head of school to the administration it’s a community and you feel like family when your there!

After careful consideration and prayer, I feel compelled to share my experience with LKNC as a parent. My initial hopes for a nurturing Christian environment with strong academic standards were unfortunately not met during our two-year tenure.During our time at the school, we witnessed a distressing pattern of turnover among teachers and administrators. Promises made during the initial tour, including assurances of a supportive learning environment, were quickly overshadowed by empty rhetoric and a lack of follow-through.Academically, the school fell short in several key areas. English classes lacked substantial reading materials, and there was a notable absence of meaningful projects in both history and science. The math curriculum suffered due to a teacher who was not able to get the students under control so it left them very behind. Additionally the math teacher quit with 4 weeks left of the school. English teach left half way through this year. Equally concerning was the school's apparent indifference to disciplinary issues and student well-being. Despite repeated attempts to address instances of disruptive behavior and bullying, the response from school leadership was disappointingly inadequate.Transparency regarding school finances and decision-making processes was also lacking. Parents were left in the dark about where their money was being allocated, and attempts to engage with the school's governing bodies were met with resistance.Ultimately, our decision to withdraw our child from LKNC was driven by a combination of these factors. The additional fee imposed upon withdrawal only served to underscore our disillusionment with the school's policies and practices.In sharing this review, my hope is that other parents will be empowered to make informed decisions about their children's education. While LKNC may present an appealing façade to prospective families, the reality of our experience was far from satisfactory.

Where do I begin! High turn over of teachers. My daughters teachers all left half way through the year. The math teacher left and the head of school is teaching the class because they cannot recruit teachers. It’s a right wing republican Christian school. The head of school prayed in front of young children about removing abortion rights from women!! I had to explain to my daughter what an abortion was! Inappropriate! The parents are over the top and they bully the teachers and other students. Lots of very privileged children with poor behavior. Run away from this school!!!

There are not enough words to describe how amazing this place is! I am excited to see where LKNC is headed in the future. I believe it will be a prominent educational program in our area within the next few years. It really is Huntersville’s best kept secret!

After teaching in two public charters, I am so blessed that God led me to be a faculty member at LKNC. The feeling of family is immediately apparent. The class sizes are the perfect size to give every student the attention that they need to succeed. God is first and foremost; a wonderful family to be a part of!

This school is amazing. It's so small that it's perfect for anyone with social anxiety. It's not very diverse though.

I have been a part of this school family since 2014. I would not have my children anywhere else. It is an amazing school that feels like a family. Our family is so blessed to be a part of LKNC!!!

We started at CMS, then tried charter, and ended up at LKNC. Everything about this school is wonderful. Most importantly, Jesus is at the center. No place better if that is what you are seeking. This school has been the biggest blessing to our family! Small class sizes, kind student population, dedicated teachers and staff, and a safe and welcoming environment.

Having had experience with public, charter and now private education I can honestly say that LKNC offers the best education opportunity around. Students are encouraged, loved and treated with respect. The learning environment fosters strong growth, self exploration and teamwork. Students are challenged and grades and test scores reflect true learning (A's are not handed out like candy bars). Students with learning challenges are treated like individuals not problems. My children have never been happier.

LKNC is an amazing school because they strive to provide a safe environment for students to learn. They go above and beyond to encourage the whole student seeing them as more than just their test scores or grades on a language assignment. The teachers, faculty and administration truly care about each student and know them all from k-12 by name. This school is a blessing to our family

My son transferred in from public schools in 8th grade. He was floundering and being bullied. He is in 10th grade and flourishing. The smaller class sizes coupled with a motivating and encouraging environment has made all the difference. He added an Honors class this year and is an aging his school career. I no longer have to constantly check on him. His progress has crept into his spiritual life and scouting. He is on the path to Eagle. I'm thankful to this hard working and dedicated staff.

Lake Norman Christian School is a one-of-a-kind school where every student matters. When we moved to the Charlotte area, we didn't know anyone here. We were welcomed with open arms and honestly feel like we have become a part of the LKNC family. My children have developed a relationship with their teachers! They love this school so much. God is working in this school. God is working through the students, teachers, staff, coaches, parents, and community. Please stop in for a tour. You won't regret it.

Lake Norman Christian School claims to adopt a “College prep” eduction model, but teachers are expected to give out A’s like candy in order to keep everyone happy, which has compromised the quality of education they’ve received and led to several great teachers quitting. Student behavior is a continual problem at the school, since administration turns its head on student discipline and accountability. Also, not all administrators are qualified - some don’t have the proper ACSI certification and are hidden away as “administrative assistants” so as to not lose their accreditation. This models dishonesty at a place with a Christian label. A lot of this is happening because the school has been on the edge of closing since its start and leaders are afraid that families will leave thus shutting it down. But their actually encouraging families to leave out of their fear. The real reason has been in danger is poor leaders and poor money decisions. Here is a recent example. Over the summer the school hired four new teachers, then fired two of them three weeks later because there was never money to pay them. One was about to have a baby within days. Same reason, they fired an office person who just had a baby, along with her husband who was a core subject teacher at the school with no money to replace them. Keep looking if you want your child to attend a school where “Christian leadership” isn’t in name only.
