McWhorter is a place that truly is a family that loves and cares for all kids!!

Experiences at McWhorter have been positive due to our ability to address the needs of both students and families. Through our many programs, we have been able to support students in their socio-emotional and academic needs. McWhorter is truly a family and it is apparent by our outreach when families and students have unique needs. At McWhorter excellence is an expectation!

Please beware. This school is extremely unsafe. My daughter is going through counseling right now due to this school. She was touched during nap time. They don't care about keeping your kids safe. They allow the students in Pre K to lay all together on the floor WITHOUT any kind of mats and unsupervised. The school had failed to help her get counseling or any kind of help at that. No one has been held accountable for their actions in the incident. A few weeks before her being touched when I picked her up at the end of the day she was covered in diarrhea and the teacher didn't even notice. You could tell it had been on her for a long time because it was dried up. Do not trust this place with your kids.

Poorly. Kids are not monitored or held accountable. Good luck to the kids that come out of this school, I hope they become contributors to humankind, but its going to be touch with this kind of schooling.

The Staff goes above and beyond to help children with not only their academic education but also with social and emotional development. Their leaders and staff are warm and welcoming to all who enter through their doors.

Everyone has been very nice and organized from the front office staff to the sweet teacher Ms. Flowers.

negative. I never felt as though my daughters presence in the class was appreciated. My daughter was shy and never caused problems, I suppose this is why I never heard much from her teacher as she was to consumed with the badly behaved children.

The teachers are very down to earth and compassionate. They also are very easy going and supportive when your child is having trouble adapting to things that may be impacting them at home. Love the staff!

This School is horrible, I relocated down here almost 3 years ago. My daughter never had a bullying problem in her last school. Here she gets bullied every year, and when I report it nothing happens. Something was said to the other kids parents and that parent tried to confront my daughter. I told the school I will get the police involved if this happens again. There is no information being sent home, you don't when school is off, there homework is a joke. Some of the homework me and my husband question all the time due to some mistakes we see in them, it's crazy. When we ask for extra study material, everything is websites for them. News flash I don't let my kid be on the computer everyday, heck she barely plays on her Xbox because I don't want her to rely on it for fun. I have to go on Amazon and buy study material for her.The teachers are rude and not helpful at all, some are nice I will give them that but most aren't. Quick to dismiss you when you are trying to figure out a situation refusing to listen to the parents when they say what happen when something wasn't signed. If I had the means to take my daughter to another school, I would. This school just gets worse every year she is there. I worry about how middle school will be like.

They are really bad when it comes to kids being bullied. My two daughters were being bullied every since 2013-2015. My husband and I decided to go personally to the Principal and tell her my two daughters are being bullied since last school year of 2014-2015, til this day still they have not done nothing about it. We've decided to relocate them to another school. Just seeing them two crying can really hurt your feelings.

As the parent below mentioned, "parents had the children" and parents are the child's first and most important teacher in their lives. Teachers are there to help YOU help your child succeed. In order for students to succeed parents must first do their parts at home. It seems that you are trying but instead of blaming 100% on teachers try to find resources outside of school(Google Texas TEKS or go to library) Teachers are not there to hurt children's education, they are simply trying to help parents. They prepare 6 lessons a day plus copies plus intervention and tutoring lessons and meetings. Have you volunteered to help her/him?... They will see your child for a year but after that your child is still your responsibility and yours alone. Hope this helps. :)

We recently relocated to Texas after finishing active duty service overseas. I had read other reviews of McWhorter and at first, felt very confident in sending my son here. However, after attending since this academic year started (2014-2015), I am severely disappointed. As another reviewer said, there is ZERO information being sent home concerning days off, policy changes, staff changes, etc. Parents do need to be in the know despite what others thing. The only information that I hear on a consistent basis is concerning parking and drop-offs for the morning. Homework is inconsistent and when asked about that fact, I was told that "it changes from week to week and depends on what we get through". I have asked for extra work because my son is weak in math and never comes home with any homework--I was referred to a website that doesn't even present problems in the same format at state testing. How can I expect him to get better if the work taught at school is not reinforced at home? I understand that this can be a teacher, not a school issue. However, when I hear about the same problems with different grades, classes, etc., then at that time it becomes a SCHOOL issue.

I had my child transferred into this school going into kindergarten and I have loved the support that I have gotten from his teacher and the staff. From what I have seen is it there is an issue with a child all teachers will try to get involved to assist. Now with that said... it is up to us parents to be just as involved. I work in child care myself and I know that it is not easy but as a PARENT I am involved. You have yo be involved some kind of way. We had our kids not the school, staff, or the teachers!!!

I really like the teachers' involvement level, their compromise with the students are very seriously; however the learning process of every child does not depend only on their teachers, the parents involvement is also important in their learning.

I love this school! My son has been here since kindergarten and I have no complaints! The principle is a great dedicated individual as well as the teachers my son has had. I also love the after school program.
