Our family loves Thompson Elementary! We have been at Thompson for 3 years where both of my kids are in the dual language program. My experience with the administration, teachers and staff has always been very positive. The leadership of the Principal and Vice Principal are exemplary. They care so much about the education and well-being of their students. The teachers are wonderful and caring promoting and motiving the students to excel in all that they do. The teachers are dedicated, passionate about teaching, and provide a exciting learning environment. Thompson is AWESOME!

My children have been well taught, well guided and well loved at this school. The staff is excellent. I have been impressed with the dual language program and love that my kids are learning a second language and sound like native speakers because they are learning from native speakers. All of my children have received an excellent education. The specials teachers are wonderful: the librarian is excellent and shares her love of books with the kids, the art teacher is one of the best you will find around (your kids will sound like high school art students with their artistic knowledge by the time they finish 5th grade), the music teacher teaches fun songs and rhythms and the PE teacher's enthusiasm is great. The school experienced a change in leadership a couple of years ago and it has made a positive difference. There is a focus on both character and always working toward improvement. Send your kids here for the dual, and stay for the excellent teachers and relationships they build.

This is our 4th year at Thompson and I am very pleased with it. The teachers feel like family, my children are growing and being challenged daily, administration is looking out for every kid, and other parents are friendly for the most part. Glad to be part of the Cougar family!

I would like to warn parents if you have other options for sending your kids to a different school please do so.Don't send your kids to this school. I am not a parent here. I was a substitute teacher and happened to go to this school twice. Based on my experiences I promised to myself I am not going to this school anymore. Most horrible experiences of my entire subbing career. I went to a 4th grade one day and in the same class 3 more teachers already there. The kids were so so disruptive and so disrespectful that teaching could not be continued at all. One of the kid threatened us saying" if one more time school calls my mom.."and he stopped there. Can you imagine ? Most of the kids had the same kind of attitude. Teachers are tired of calling parents and parents are tired being called. Other day I was in a kindergarten class. Thinking that at least I don't have to deal with those attitude problems I went to this school to give one more try. I have never seen kids in kinder are so disrespectful to teachers. Most unruly, undisciplined kid I have ever seen.To my utmost surprise as soon as they came in to the class few kids literally started to climbing and jumping from the teachers tables again and again. When I warned them about calling to the office one of the kid said please call this person from the office. They don't care about anything at all.Several teachers, special teachers, stuffs from office came for help. Nothing worked for these kids. Now, I don't know if the blame should go to their upbringing, teachers, parents or administrations. To me, looking at their reactions it is clear that teachers have been dealing with this kind of problems everyday. Even though at the end of the day one admin person gave me an expression it was my failure.Anyways, I felt bad for those couple of kids who were trying their best to behave well. Good kids become bad only for staying with the bad company.

I have 3 children in the dual language program. This program along with the admins and teachers have made the experience wonderful. I chose to put my kids in this program and chose this school because of the results I see

I have had kids at this school for several years. It has been a constant struggle. My kids have medical needs which the school repeatedly disregards. The administration is awful. Half the teachers are bullies. It's sad that all the good teachers leave every year because it's so bad.

I am dissatisfied with this school. I have two very sick kids that have to see Doctors a lot. One lady at the front desk is amazing and makes me fill very welcomed to be there but the other one she always makes me fill unwanted there. She Told me that my kids Doctors needed to make there visit after school. I told her that they can't. One of my kids has seizures, ADHD, asthma, and more so he as a lot a doctor visit to get them under control. My other on has 32 different allergies, asthma and has to take a lot of meds and has to be checked often. Oh and they both have Dyslexia so I have been going though alot to help them on that to.

Our Daughter is in Kindergarten this year. I am a certified teacher myself and I was very anxious sending her to a school I was not familiar with. We explored our neighborhood school option and Thompson's Dual Language option. I am so thankful we choose Thompson! Her teachers are great, the new principal is working hard to get up to speed and things running smoothly for everyone, and all other staff/faculty we've ever dealt with are very helpful and pleasant! I'm very happy with our Kindergarten experience so far! I look forward to the great things ahead for all Thompson Cougars under Ms. Campbell's leadership!

I have two children that have been attending since 2009...around 5 years now. I am highly disappointed in this school and how teachers respond to the children. I have seen on a few occasions where the teachers speak condescendingly to the children. We have had issues with a bully problem and talking with the counselor has proved to be fruitless. I am actively seeking to put my children in a new school because the response to the children is not a nurturing environment for my children to grow socially...academically the teachers and Principal show great consideration for teaching to the STARR test and not much time on developing socially...its too bad that everything is based on those test scores.

I'm a new Thompson parent. I am not impressed! Younger kids are mixed with older kids. Kinder kids are expected to migrate around the school alone from day 2. Any incidents/accident are not reported to parents. It's been 3+ weeks and the only homework my child has received was a coloring sheet. She does very little class work. Bringing your concerns to administrators is very frustrating. I've tried a couple of times only to have my concerns dismissed (this is the way we do things), insulted (your child is a liar) or be spoken to like a child (you can t talk to other parents about issues). I'll politely say the office staff is rude and leave it there, since such behavior is supported and demonstrated by the principal. It seems there are many parents who don't care. Somewhere along the way that became the norm and facility stopped caring too. I want to believe my issues are just Thompson and not all CFBISD schools. So, I am simply awaiting the transfer period. If I am wrong, private school here we come.

We not only chose Thompson Elementary because of the Two-Way Dual Language pro-gram, but because how welcome the staff and teachers always makes us feel. In the pastyear my daughter has improved academically, as well as developed strong friendships amongst her classmates. I am thankful for this strong foundation that will carry with her for the rest of her life.
