Completely dissatisfied with Special Education Services and Education at Big Creek Elementary. Needs were not met and IEP is Incomplete and Disputed. As a parent was left hopeless, frustrated, unsupported and discontent from IEP Team.

outstanding teachers, administration, specials. I only hope we can stay throughout my son's elementary education.

We have been at Big Creek since my son was in 1st grade and every year, except one, we have had issues with the administration, teachers and support staff. They bump the grades so that they can have better scores at the end of the year. I heard this for myself from one of the teachers. She said "Your son has the highest scores in the class" I asked “Why does he not have a high grade, why did you give him the average (3)" She replies "We were told to not give anyone a four until the second semester." What? Some of the support staff are helpful and others are complete jerks.I was hoping with the new principle this year things would different, but so far we are still having issues.

We were new to US and put our kid in first grade of Big creek elementary. We had met the class teacher asking her to support my shy kid a little to help blend in to the environment. She simply replied "IT IS TOO CROWDED AND I CANT HELP ". There were no mails or notes from the teacher discussing kids progress. We had to email the teacher to check about the kid for which most of the time there was no response. Our kid was a performer in her previous school. We don't notice any improvement in her from last year .Our kid has lot all the cheer and confidence after joining this school. I would never recommend this school to any parent !!! Very bad terrible experience..

The teachers are good and the focus on academics is also appreciated at this school....in general all schools in Forsyth county. One of things that was very frustrating and exhausting with Big Creek is the endless amount of gifts they ask for teachers. I personally think it's unethical and unprofessional. This is an educational institute and unfortunately the focus in on keeping the teachers pleased all year long. The PTA gets carried away with constant gift giving for teachers. They need to spend extra dollars they may have on building their science lab. The front desk staff can be very rude and condescending. I also feel that this school hires a lot of young teachers and I am not prejudiced, but I think that they are not equipped with dealing with other issues the children may have in the classroom, besides academics. Training these teachers to deal with behavior problems in kids, would be beneficial. We had an ongoing issue with a student in my child's class who was picking on my son and other kids in the class. We brought this to the teachers and schools attention many times but finally had to have a meeting with the principal. You really need to speak up as a parent.

This is a fantastic school if you want to focus on the academic achievements of your kids. I have two kids at Big Creek and the teachers here are doing an amazing job. The intensive regimens in mathematics, sciences as well as language arts are state of art and goal oriented. The only downside is lack of extracurricular activities or sports related avenues, even the after school extracurricular leaves much to be desired. At the end of the day, our aim as parents was to focus on the academics and it is paying off well.

My daughter is out of Big Creek this year. This school has excellent teachers. My daughter enjoyed going to school. Staff and teachers are very dedicated and they love what they do and work hard at it. Mrs. Drone is awesome. On imorovement side, PTA is too much focus on celebrating B'days and gifts, etc. They have very good intetions, but I believe PTA got carried away. This school is extermly poor in area of promoting math, science and technology. Teachers lack the energy and depth in science and math. After school programs need complete overhaul. They need improvement in all areas. Luch meals is worst than junk food. However, teaching staff is excellent and they are doing their best within the scope of their reach.

The teachers are awesome. Ratio of teacher to student is small. It's a blue ribbon school. Excellent method of teaching. Wonderful staff. Great location. Excellent school activities and after school program.

I am so glad that we are now out of this school. I found the admin to be focused only on one thing- scores. Although my child did very well in school, they did not enjoy being there. They felt intimidated by some, but not all, of the teachers they had. One teacher did not cooperate with parents at all when it came to using the Parent Portal. They would not post grades until the end of the grading period. The purpose of Parent Portal is to be able to monitor your child's grades, throughout the period, in order to assist them, if needed.

Both of my children attend Big Creek and I couldn't be more pleased with the education they are receiving. Sure, it's not a brand new school like some other schools in the district, but its teachers are among the best, the most dedicated, and genuinely care about "their" kids. The parents are very involved and keep a finger on the pulse of what's happening at their school so it is very difficult for any poor experience to fall through the cracks, which is great. The PTA is an award-winning PTA, has lots of volunteers, and does a LOT for the school. One of my kids is in Horizons (gifted program) and I am grateful that he is getting special attention and education. Overall, if you have the opportunity to get into this school, you should jump at the chance.

Big Creek Elementary is one of the highest rated school in Georgia, thanks to hard work and dedication of the teachers and administrators. At the same time, Big Creek does need to get kids involved in more technology, math, science competitions. We are very proactive when it comes to celebration, rewards, sports, literaure, language, and charities. That's great. Same kind of resolve needs towards math, science, engineering, and technology. We lacks the focus on engineering and science, and that is evident in Big Creek Elementary. We are on bottom in education in USA, which means we, Big Creek stake-holders are on bottom too. Without new shift in our attitude we will hurt our kids whom we love most. GA is under-represented in top colleges, top-postions in big firms, and top inventors in USA. There is some cause & effect relationship here. This is not a random situation. We, elementary school parents and educators have only 7 to 11 years left to do justice to our college-bound kids. GA needs a revolution in education to qulify our kids in global competition, and it needs to start at elementary level. Yes, I am proud that my kid goes to Big Creek Elementary.
