I took my son out of Lyon Elementary due to a kindergarten Para. My son was in an RNC class. Her behavior towards him, as well to a BA I had attend with him, was questionable to say the least. Luckily since I had someone I knew and trusted with him at the school, she was able to tell me things I was not and would have not been made aware of. If you have a child with special needs, be mindful who will be with your child, especially if they are not able to communicate with you. We had an incident with her and as a mother, felt very uncomfortable leaving him with her again. She even came to deliver his stuff to me when I went and unenrolled him and she was rude as ever. I knew I made the right decision right then and there. I would like to add the principal and everyone else I encountered were wonderful. It’s a shame that one person made me feel so unsafe to leave my child there. It’s a shame she even works there.

Staff is excellent and caring. The school has a culture of high expectations. Both of my children attend this school and I could't be happier with our experiences there over the past three years!

Lyon is a great school with caring teachers and a great support system. My child had an IEP which was followed to the tee plus extra. She went on to do well in the next school and was well prepared. I am willing to bet that some of the parents bashing Lyon just didn't get their own way! See for yourself, check the school out in person and make an educated decision

My children have attended Lyon for 2 years and every teacher i have dealt with have encouraged parent participation and involvement every step of the way. Office staff is great, especially Ms. Dawn. I have a third child attending next year and cannot wait to see her thrive at this school. Great job, teachers!!! I cannot thank you enough for all the hard work and time you dedicate.

This is not a school you want for your child if you want the Staff to respect your input as a parent. They pretend to hear you and then just do what they want to do anyway and if that doesn't work, the principal will threaten and intimidate you and treat you as if they know what is better for your child than you do. If you expect a school to be honest and above board with you, you may not want to choose this school.

The special education department is so bad I feel like every day when he goes to school, he is being abused with neglect. They are sending home A's and B's on his report card towards the end of his 2nd time in 2nd grade and they won't teach him to read or try to.

My daughter has gone to Lyon 4 yrs now,I held her back a year. She Loves her school and her teachers. The Office Staff are wonderful and seem to know the children by name . They are willing to help with anything that you may need. With me being honest in 4 yrs I have had a couple of issues ,they were taken care of as soon as they were brought to the schools attention. We Love Lyon Elementary.
