Totally disappointed with Hubbard. They changed their name after my child started attending, no longer "mastery", likely because they could not live up to the title. Everytime I go to the school they make feel like I am inconveniencing them in some way. Bare minimum effort and lackadaisical attitudes by most of the staff, an example of the district as a whole.

My kids go here. I dont like their form of communication. I only hear when they do something wrong. Then they tell me what I should do for discipline. They have left my kids off the bus three times this year. And called me like i did something wrong. They never admit or apologize for their mistakes. They talk to people in a condescending way. The whole vibe of that school is not right. I have reported them three times and nothing has happened. So be careful with this school or Columbus city schools in general.

Hubbard Mastery School began in 2015 with new leadership and has really blossomed under the principal, Susie McGeean. She has created a culture that is respectful and kids are ready and excited to come to school and learn. The staff works well together. My kids have been there from Prek to 4th grade and we have had a great experience. Because it is in the Short North on the free COTA CBUS bus line, many field trips and opportunities open to students at this school. There is a very active and supportive PTO that does ongoing events, with two large festivals each year: The Hubbard Lantern Festival to celebrate the Chinese culture and language the children learn, and a Dia de Los Muertos night to celebrate the culture of many of our students. Hubbard enjoys a diverse student population.

I've been most impressed by the faculty and children at this school. While the teachers provide a good deal of stimulating material, there's a no-nonsense approach to learning. The administration seems to know most of the children, and be kindly toward them. The students are generally respectful of one another. It is good to see students take charge of younger siblings after school. The building is old and some parts need repair--the reason for the school's move to Hubbard Street. As a grandmother of two young children at Fifth Avenue and a volunteer in a kindergarten class, I am delighted my family lives in the district. I look forward to volunteering next year at Hubbard.

I'm sorry to say that my child will not be attending for a second year, there is little to no constant supervision for even the youngest of the children. I think that the intentions of the school are great, but unfortunately, poorly funded.

I would have to concur that this school does not control the behavior of the children or provide a safe learning environment for its students.

I was really excited about enrolling my child in this school with its international focus. However, it has been a big disappointment. Teachers are absent for weeks on end and children are randomly switched to different classrooms months into the school year. Even the classroom aides seem to be switched from class to class so there is no real consistency in the adults involved in your child s education. I walk my child into the school every morning and never see the principal greeting families. She does not seem to be very involved. I really have not seen any evidence of the international focus. On top of that, the building is dirty and disorganized. I would not recommend this school.
